Barrister Ajinuhi Appreciates Gov. Bello for his Reappointment
Says the Holy Land is a place to be…
Pastor (Barr.) Samuel Ajinuhi appreciates God Almighty, Gov. Yahaya Bello, others on his reappointment as Chairman, Kogi State Christian Pilgrims Commission.
He said this during an exclusive interview with KogiOnline Reporter on Thursday.
It will be recalled that the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole announced his invitation for screening and three others as Chairman, and Members of the Commission, following a letter from the Governor.
The interview reads;
Interviewer: Can we meet you sir?
Pastor Ajinuhi: I am Ajinuhi Samuel Oluwafemi.
Interviewer: Yesterday, the Speaker announced your invitation and three others as Chairman and Members, Kogi State Christian Pilgrims Commission for screening, following a letter from Governor Yahaya Bello.
This means you have been re-nominated for second term, as Chairman of the Board.
How do you feel about this?
Pastor Ajinuhi: Humbling, excited, I felt it is a trust, and that trust for me is something that I wasn’t expecting but I also believe that all good and perfect gift comes from above and so I am humbled and I am grateful to God and His Excellency.
Interviewer: What are your achievements in the just concluded tenure?
Pastor Ajinuhi: The concluded tenure started in November, 2016.
The primary aim of the Commission is to ensure that Kogi State Christian Pilgrims are taken to and brought back safely from the Holy Land, so that they have the experience to increase and improve their spiritual lives, to also give them a re-orientation when it comes to reality and for them to learn how agriculture is done because Isreal is very good in agricultural activities. And by the grace of God, we have succeeded in doing this.
In 2018, Kogi State was Awarded the Best Conducting State, the greatest achievement for the time which the State Secretary to the Government witnessed.
Interviewer: In the previous years as the Chairman, did you face any challenge(s), if yes, how do you intend to overcome them in this prospective second term?
Pastor Ajinuhi: Obviously, there were challenges as there were bound to be challenges, but when those challenges come, we surmounted them by the grace of God.
Some of the challenges have to do with the nature of the job, challenges of organization, successfully taking the pilgrims to Isreal and bringing them back. Now we have learnt and those challenges won’t arise again.
Although we are expecting new challenges, especially with Covid-19, but we believe that by the grace of God we will be able to surmount them.
Interviewer: As a Pastor, what does this appointment mean to you?
Pastor Ajinuhi: I believe government had trust in the Clergy, and the law provides that anybody who should head this Commission with its members must be grounded in the things of faith, has theological knowledge and then have spiritual administrative abilities, because to lead men, one who is knowledgeable must be administered.
So as a Pastor, I see it as an extension of Ministry, and I believe that when I do, success is inevitable.
Interviewer: How well is the Commission under your watch generating revenue for the government, and how well have you been able to make Government meet up to their obligations, cum duties towards the Commission?
Pastor Ajinuhi: His Excellency at a point testified that the Commission generates revenue. We generate revenue in two folds, one of the fold is that every pilgrims must pay tax with evidence. Secondly, the processes of participating also generate funds for the government.
We are also looking for other means and thinking outside the box to generate more funds for the government.
The Commission is under the government, and we have a Governor who fulfills his responsibilities, so the Governor ensures that every of our demand is met and approved, so we have a smooth running not minding the economic situation.
The relationship with the government especially through the SSG, she’s been very supportive. So we hold our appreciation to God, the Governor and to her.
Interviewer: Closing remark and message for Kogites.
Pastor Ajinuhi: About my re-appointment as the Chairman of the Commission, I just want to thank God and His Excellency for the trust.
I also want to thank the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja; the SSG, Dr. Ayoade Arike Folashade; the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole; the Chief Of Staff, Pharm. Asuku Abdulkareem Jamiu; Faleke; Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Sunday Faleke; all leaders from Kogi West for their support.
Also the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kogi State Chapter for the trust, and the Youths Wing where I belong.
I also want to charge Kogites, especially the Christians because that is my jurisdiction, that the Holy Land is a place to be. Everyone should look forward to be in the land of the Bible.
And also in the State, we should see to bringing development to the State, the youth should be engaged and not depend on government alone. I charge everybody to pray for the peace of the state. Thank you.
