CALMNESS IN JOS AS 24 HOURS CURFEW COMMENCES

Residence of Jos, the Plateau state Capital, deserted all nooks and crannies of the major towns and cities of the Metropolis, this is as a result of Curfew imposed on Jos North and South LGAs as a result of skirmishes that occurred as a result of attacked of EndSARS protesters at Terminus and Ahmadu Bello way markets by Hoodlums.

Three people loss their lives and about four vehicles burnt into ashes during the attack, in order to stem the tide of the fracas,the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, after State Security meeting, impose curfew.

A visit to some major towns by our correspondent yesterday shows the level of compliance, all public and private businesses were shut down, in Terminus, Ahmadu Bello way, Murtala Muhammed way, British America Junction, Bauchi Road,Gada Biyu,Polo field,Venue of the Jos trade faire are all deserted by people as only the security personel comprises the Men of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense, Neighborhood Watch mount check points and search vehicles that are passing to ensure only those on essential services to pass.

In some other places visited at the outskirt of the city, Lamingo, Katon Rikoss,Jos Jarawa, Gwafan, Gwash, Nukpis, people were indoors even though no security agents in and around their environment to enforce compliance, with this level of compliance, is clearly showing that the residence of Jos and environs are law abiding citizens.

The two local governments and part of and Jos East forms Jos the State capital which is the commercial and industrial hub of the state.

As the covid 19 ravages the global economy and every state and country is putting all efforts to boost her internally generated revenue and sustain development, the situation is a major set back to the effort of government in the state to achieve her campaign promises which hinge on sustainable peace and development.

Peace is essential and no development take place in the admosphere of violence.

Some many residence says they were taking aback with the development,and advise the state government to beef security in and around Terminus and other major towns in the state in order to avert future occurrence
