Late Chief SJO Bodunde 20th Remembrance: Over 260 Get Free Medical Attention

Over 260 people have benefited from the Late Chief SJO Bodunde Medical Outreach in Iyara, headquarters of Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi State.

The medical outreach is part of activities lined up for the 20th Remembrance Anniversary of the Late Political Icon who also gave free medical assistance to many during his life time.

The treatment cut across different medical cases including malaria, typhoid, blood sugar, hypertension, rheumatism, cough and so on.

Late Chief Sunday Joseph Olawale Bodunde, a philanthropist per excellent, astute politician and lover of his people was born in September 1931.
Chief S.J.O Bodunde was a great man during his life time. Until his death, he was a business man, highly respected politician in the entire Okun land and South West, philanthropist and family man.
As a progressive minded politician, he was fondly called “Bodunde Kwara” by friends because of his believe in the political ideology of Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
Late Chief SJO Bodunde was also an active leader of UPN, SDP and AD until his death in the year 2000.
His believe in mentoring people made him to mentor and support the candidature of Chief C. O Adebayo to become the then Governor of Kwara State, Late Chief Olumide Fayomi as an Assembly member while the current Senator representing Kogi West, Smart Adeyemi is a political student of Late Chief SJO Bodunde.
He lived his life in rendering selfless service especially treating the sick in his community, Iyara and Okun land. The late Political Icon loved his people and was passionate to help almost everyone that crossed his path as was his way of life.
Also, he was one of the most honest and straightforward grassroots politicians of his time and highly respected in and outside Okun land.
He grew up with knowledge of traditional religion, like many of his age group, which he accommodated with his Christian faith throughout his life.
Chief Sunday Bodunde was a farmer who loved and played football in his early life.
He was a health worker before he went into business as building contractor, petrol station proprietor, property business and sawmilling.
Chief SJO Bodunde was married to 8 wives and was blessed with 29 children as well as many grand children and great grandma children.

One of his Children is Chief Mrs. Funmilayo Bodunde, the Yeye Oba of Iyara Land, a philanthropist per excellent and lover of Okun land.
