NGO Scores COETK High on Staff Training, Developement, Other Outstanding Achievements

The Provost College of Education Technical Kabba, Mrs Victoria Olusola Jagboro has been praised for making Staff Training/Development unprecedented in the school’s history.

Education Watch, a Non Governmental Organization saddled with monitoring training and development of Lecturers in Colleges of Education made the disclosure in a statement, commended the College breakthrough in the area of Academic Staff Training, said the efforts is an avowed commitment of the Gov. Yahaya Bello’s administration in making the College the best in the country.

According to the statement signed by the Executive Director Education Watch, Dickson Onwulamate, said the Organization is encouraged by the National and International Conferences the College have Organized for Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff as well as for Research Projects.

The NGO said within the period under review over three hundred staff have attended academic staff training, National and International Conferences for teaching and non teaching Staff, commended the Provost for her foresight and priority to staff development.

The COETK equally got applauded as the only accredited centre for Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), said the developement has made student from Kogi West especially students of Okun extraction to now conveniently write their JAMB Examination without needlessly travelling to Lokoja.

According to the statement, ” This development is equally a strong revenue base for the College and by extension the State Governor as more importantly applicant for the centre will compulsorily chose the College as one of their choices for admission consideration, a veritable opportunity to increase student intake into the College.”

The COETK also received commendation from Education Watch for the Establishment and Registration of the College portal, Designing and issuance of digital identity cards for both students and staff, in Organizing and coordinating of excursions for students to enhance practicality of subject taught and in the process create awareness for the College as well as in the Procurement and installation of 150nos of desktop computers for the CBT Jamb centre.

As part of enhancing computer literacy of staff, the COETK distributed 110nos of laptops donated to the College by Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) to academic and non-academic staff to enhance research and teaching. (2018), while it also Installed a wireless internet gadgets donated by Nigerian Communication Commission, for effective and efficient internet services throughout the college community.

The Provost was further hailed for her efforts to move to the permanent site of the College after failed efforts by previous administrators, appreciated her efforts in the commencement of lectures at the permanent site in January this year.
