The political appointment office holders in Kogi state government from five local government areas of Okunland have described the Presidential ambition of Governor Yahaya Bello as a timely intervention to the neglet, deprivation and absence of federal government the area have experienced over the years. This was the position of the members at the end of the first ever meeting of Political appointees of the five local government areas of Okunland working under the Governor Yahaya Bello led new direction government under the leadership of the Secretary to the state government, Dr(Mrs) Folashade Ayoade as the Chairperson.
The forum whose meeting was well attended deliberated on several issues among which is the Presidential ambition of the Governor, Alh Yahaya Bello which the forum says is very dear and important to them. The forum said it is important to work in unity to woo national delegates especially from the South West of Nigeria for their Principal since Okunland has historical and cultural affinity with the people of the zone. Opening discussion on the subject matter, the Secretary of the Okun Political Appointees Forum and Special Adviser to the Governor on Civil Service and Labour Matters, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi said the ambition of the Governor to become the President of the country is very dear to the people of Kogi state and that Okun people must be seen to take meaningful participatory role in the process. He requested the forum members to come up with useful suggestions on how the forum can make noticeable impact in mobilization of national delegates for the project.
While making his contribution, Special Adviser to the Governor on Water Resources and former state executive member of the All Progressives Congress, Hon Adesayo Ismail says what the project requires at this stage is mobilizing delegates that have voting power to the election, he further suggested that the best zone to mobilize delegates as Okun people is in the south west of Nigeria, he enjoined members to be deliberate in going to the six states of south west where the people have historical and cultural affinity for ease of campaign and allignment. On his part, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones advised that a Strategy and National Delegates Mobilization Committee be set up to design the process of the tour of the zone and other things needed to be done. On his part, the Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Planning spoke about the need to have a pool of fund that will be required for the logistics and execution of plans and the forum immediately appointed Hon Sunday Faleke, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor to serve as the Treasurer while the committee set up the following as members

The committee is given twenty four hours to come up with necessarily strategies and roadmap for the implementation of the tour.
One after the other, members of the forum took out time to make contributions on various issues ranging from conduct of the forthcoming delegates and primary elections for various offices in the area. Speaking on unity, the Chairperson of the forum and Secretary to the state government, Dr Folashade Ayoade says the party can win on Okunland only of the forum makes unity their watchword. She said although there maybe one misgiving or the other, but it is important for members to come together with spirit of forgiveness so that the interest of their principal and that of the party will succeed, she encouraged appointees to see their various positions as call to service and they must justify the confidence the government reposed in them through their appointment. She promised to always stand as a leader who will be for all and lead the way to success.
