Olujumu Bags International Goodwill Ambassador of Peace Award

An Global Non Governmental Organization (NGO) known as International Parliament for Safety Peace and Justice has confered the Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom, Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni with a Goodwill Ambassador of Peace Award.

Speaking at the colourful ceremony held at the Olujumu’s Palace at Iyara, headquarters of Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, the African President of the Organization, Professor Esapa Joseph said the Ijumu Paramount Ruler was one of the 5 Distinguished personalities that were conferred with the Award in this year alone.

Professor Joseph stated that the Traditional Ruler was confered with the award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the peace of Ijumu, Okun land, Kogi State and Nigeria in general as well as as philanthropic disposition to the down trodden.

According to him, Oba Ayeni emerged a recipient of the Award after proper investigation and scrutiny by the body’s Screening Committee of the International Board having found him worthy and suitable for the Honour.

“The International Parliament for Safety Peace and Justice is a platform where we carryout humanitarian services and honour those who are living their lives for others. We held a meeting to select men that have contributed to the peace of the society and men that are doing humanitarian services. Our international board sat down and screened the profile of Kabiyesi. We did secret investigations, asked questions from people of his domain and found him worthy of this honour.”

He noted that the Ijumu and indeed people of Kogi State are lucky to have the Olujumu as Leader, describing him as a humility personified man who is loved by his subjects.

The President enjoined the Monarch to continue to sustain his good deeds especially his philanthropic gesture by rendering selfless service to God and humanity.

Responding, the Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom, Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni who was delighted as a result of the International recognition, said he will not relent effort in promoting unity and Peace.


“The people of Kogi State and Nigerians know that Ijumu people are peace loving. With this honour, I will continue to promote peace in Ijumu, Kogi State and Nigeria at large.”

Oba Ayeni expressed appreciation to the Organization for recognizing his little contributions to the State and Ijumu Local Government Area and promised not to disappoint the people of his domain.

Oba Ayeni maintained that “the successes recorded cannot be achieved without the support of members of Ijumu Local Government Traditional Council, Elders and the good people of Ijumu Kingdom and I want to urge you not to relent.”

According to him, “honour like this is for you to do more and I want to assure you and the people of my domain that by the grace of God, this award will spur me to do more.”He promised to continue to carry out his assignment without fear or favour and appealed to the people to be law abiding at all times.

The ceremony was attended by members of Ijumu Traditional Council including, Ologidi of Ogidi, Oba Rabiu Oladimeji Sule, Olu Adde of Ekinrin Adde, Oba Anthony Bamigbaye Idowu, Obaro of Egbeda Ega, Oba Johnson Ogundare, Alayere of Ayere, Oba S.A Olubo, Aladuge of Aduge, Oba J.O.B Aladuge and Olu Iyah Gbede, Oba David Faleke.

Others are; Olu Ayeh, Oba Ayodele Tolorunju, Elejuku of Ejuku, Oba Lamidi Ayeni, Owa of Jege, Oba Joseph Osasona, High Chief Fatoba Jacob, the Ohi Asiwaju of Ijumu Kingdom, Bishop of Ijumu Anglican Diocese, Right Reverend Paul Ojo, Prince Dayo Akanmode among others.

The event featured traditional display by women group and Solidarity by Iyara Youths.
