SENATOR GYANG SET TO PROMOTE FOOTBALL TALENTS AT THE GRASSROOTS

Football lovers and their supporters from the five local governments that made up the Northern Senatorial District of Plateau state are set to participate at the maiden Peace, Unity and Reconciliation football Tournament , courtesy the Senator representing the zone at the National Assembly, Senator Istifanus Gyang, Plateau North which in the past, witnessed skirmishes ranging from religious and political crises.

Senator Gyang came out with the initiative to promote and foster peace in the zone, according to him, the tournament is an initiative and mechanism for peace building in Plateau North.

The intention and desire is to drive the agenda of promoting peace, unity and reconciliation as the game of football has been proven to be a unifying factor among Nigerians defying all divisive tendencies, prejudices and sentiments.

He further stressed that, the tournament will also enable us attain the objective of availing the youths opportunity to showcase their talents in football artistry and provide entertainment for enthusiasts.

Through this tournament, talents will be discovered from the grassroots that will developed and groomed to become professional players in the nearest future.

The Senator described the event as dear to him been the first in the history of Plateau north.

73 football teams Electoral wards from the Zone recieved kits branded with the Senator’s logo to enable them participate at the competition that will soon kick off.

Politicians and football fans particularly youths from different religions and political parties came out en mass.

The Super Eagles coach, Ahmed Musa grace the event and promised to award 6 million naira cash to the team the emerges first at the competition
