The event, held under the Community Development Agreement CDA, programme, drew officials of Mangal Industries Ltd and leaders of the host community.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Umar Musa, General Manger, Administration and Human Resources, said the company was fulfilling commitments stipulated in the CDA.

“We are giving money for community development agreement for the year 2025 with the community consent. The community is delighted that we are doing the needful as stipulated in the CDA and CSR,” he stated.

Dr. Musa said the initiative focuses on entrepreneurial skills and development support to boost the local economy. “This will boost the economy of this locality by ensuring that they learn handwork and other businesses so that they can strive and grow accordingly. And this initiative is going to be on a going concern. We will continue to do it as we grow,” he added.

He likened the company-community relationship to a marriage: “It is like a marriage, as the president said previously, that the marriage has come to stay. We will definitely come to a drawing table, agree and ensure that we live in peace and harmony and grow together.”

Engineer Armayau Mohammed, Production Manager of Mangal Cement, said the company was celebrating the Iluhagba family through the entrepreneurship and scholarship award. “We are here to celebrate our family, Iluhagba family, for entrepreneurship and scholarship award presentation of some funds that we agreed we should be giving for all of us,” he said.

He disclosed that 50 people are benefiting from the first phase, with ₦17.5 million earmarked for entrepreneurship support.

Also speaking, Dr. Oyelola Emmanuel, National President of Illihagaba Development Union, confirmed the programme was part of the CDA signed between the host community and Mangal Cement.

“We are here for entrepreneurship empowerment and scholarship for our people. It is an agreement in the CDA between the host community and Mangal Industries Ltd, and that is the purpose why we are here this morning,” he said.

On satisfaction with the programme, Dr. Oyelola said: “You are talking about satisfaction. I am satisfied because now the host community are now benefiting from the agreement they had with Mangal Industries Ltd.”

The disbursement and awards form part of Mangal Industries’ ongoing commitment to human capital development and economic empowerment in its host communities.
