2-Days Stakeholders Meeting, Innovation, Science and Technology Will Form Integral Drivers Of Development In Kogi State – Dr Adeniyi

Kogi State Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Adeniyi Aderibigbe Helen, has expressed optimism that the newly established ministry will drive growth and development of the state.

She made this known during the opening ceremony of a 2-day public-private stakeholders meeting in Lokoja on Thursday.

According to her, innovation is critically germane to the growth, development and success of any organization, hence the collective commitment to harness the transformative power of technology to drive progress, spur economic development, and enhance the quality of life for all the citizens of Kogi State.

The commissioner said being a new Ministry, the first step is to develop the appropriate roadmap and policy, then a comprehensive blue print and strategic goals.

She noted that the stakeholders meeting marked a significant milestone in the state’s journey towards embracing technology and innovation.

“Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology is a newly created Ministry under the visionary leadership and administration of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo. Hence, we are saddled with the responsibility of formulating the operating policies, roadmaps and work schedule.

“This stakeholders’ engagement meeting is a crucial step towards building a robust and dynamic innovation ecosystem in which a comprehensive blueprint and implementation strategy will be outlined.
It is crystal clear that the role of Innovation, Science and Technology cannot be over-emphasized, hence, Kogi State like many regions across the globe must key in to the rapid advancements in science and technology that have the potential to revolutionize various aspects of the society.

“Innovation, Science and Technology (IST) should be guided by well-established policy with desire to solve identified problems and increase visibility for the state which would eventually enhance the realization of the Advance New Direction and Developmental Plans of His Excellency; Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo,” she said.

Dr Adeniyi explained that the eventual comprehensive blueprint and strategy, would aim to catalyze the state’s transformation into a vibrant hub for innovation – Ododo Innovation Technology Solution.

She added that by “leveraging the power of innovation, science and technology, and in synergy with Kogi State Development Plan 2024 – 2056, handed over by our visionary state leader and Former Governor, His Excellency Yahaya Adoza Bello; Kogi State can unlock new opportunities, address complex challenges and create a prosperous and sustainable future for all its citizens.

“This ministry holds the promise of serving as a catalyst for innovation, a hub for tech-driven solutions, and a beacon of progress in our state.”

Dr Adeniyi said through collaboration, partnerships, and strategic investments in technology and human capital, the new ministry can propel Kogi State towards a future defined by technological excellence, inclusive growth, and sustainable development.

In his goodwill message, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, urged the state government to go beyond blueprint but be committed to funding the plans and programs of the new ministry.

Represented by the Head of Public Private Partnerships in the ministry, Dr Fadipe, the Minister said science and technology is capital intensive, requiring strong political will to attain set goals.

He promised that the Federal Ministry will support Kogi in its quest to develop the science and technology sector.

The meeting session continues tomorrow, 5th July, 2024 at Riverton Hotel, Lokoja
