66th Independence Anniversary: WoPU congratulates Nigerians ,says Tinubu Laying Foundation for a Better Future.

A coalition of labour leaders and professionals under the umbrella of Working People United (WoPU) has expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The group made this declaration as the nation celebrated its 66th Independence Anniversary on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

WoPU, comprising seasoned professionals, artisans, and workers across key sectors including oil and gas, stated that it is moving beyond traditional labour-driven advocacy to actively shape Nigeria’s political direction geared with patriotism and social responsbility.

The coalition reiterated its steadfast support for President Tinubu’s administration, commending his efforts in laying the groundwork for a brighter future for Nigeria. It further pledged to mobilize the working population in backing his vision and to actively champion his reelection bid in 2027.

In a statement signed by its Coordinator-General, Comrade (Prince) Williams Eniredonana Akporeha, WoPU felicitated with Nigerians, saying:

“WoPU heartily congratulates the working people of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, and all citizens as our country marks 66 years of independence. As we look forward to another year in our national life, we are confident that our tomorrow will be better than our yesterday and today.”

The coalition emphasized that Nigeria possesses abundant human and material resources to excel globally. It pledged to lead efforts toward harnessing these resources, while calling on stakeholders responsible for protecting workers’ interests to address exploitation and abuse, and to prioritize human capital development and youth empowerment in line with international best practices.

WoPU further urged Nigerians to unite in word and deed to build a stronger nation, recalling the vision of the founding fathers who pursued national identity, unity, and stability through peaceful planning and cooperation.

The statement highlighted the achievements of Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora in fields such as science, technology, medicine, sports, and the arts, stressing that collective effort is key to unlocking the nation’s full potential.

WoPU affirmed its strong belief that collective effort is the key to national progress. “We are convinced that if we pursue our aspirations together, we can achieve all that we desire. Let us remain steadfast in prayer for our leaders and our nation, while ensuring that our patriotism and sense of responsibility remain untarnished. United in purpose, we can transform our condition for the better and, more importantly, accomplish far greater things for ourselves and for our country,” The future of Nigeria is Bright. the statement concluded.

Happy 66th Independence Anniversary. May God bless and prosper Nigeria.
