A Day of Triumph: Senator Sunday Steve Karimi Receives Resounding Endorsement Across Kogi West

Pastor Stanley Ajileye reports

Thursday, August 13, will long be remembered as one of the most remarkable and fulfilling days in the political journey of Distinguished Senator Sunday Steve Karimi. It was a day that vividly showcased the deep bond between the senator and the people he represents, as thousands of supporters, traditional rulers, political leaders and stakeholders gathered to celebrate what many described as an outstanding record of service, philanthropy and purposeful representation.

The highlight of the day was the highly anticipated Town Hall Meeting, held at the expansive 90 Degree Event Centre. The venue was filled far beyond capacity, with every available seat occupied. The overwhelming crowd spilled outside the hall, where hundreds more stood patiently, determined to be part of the historic gathering despite being unable to gain entry. The electric atmosphere made it obvious that this was far more than an ordinary political meeting. It was a celebration of leadership and an affirmation of confidence.

Earlier in the day, Senator Karimi received equally warm receptions at the palace of the Olujumu of Ijumu and at the palace of the Obaro of Kabba the day before. At both royal courts, the revered monarchs openly acknowledged the senator’s exceptional contributions to the development of their communities.

The Obaro of Kabba was particularly emphatic in his remarks. He urged the people of his kingdom to remain steadfast in their support for the “People’s Senator,” warning against the dangers of betrayal and stressing that loyalty to a leader who has consistently delivered meaningful development would serve the best interest of the people.

At the palace of the Olujumu of Ijumu, the traditional rulers took turns offering heartfelt prayers for Senator Karimi. They prayed for divine guidance, protection, strength and victory in the next election, expressing confidence that another term would enable him to consolidate on his impressive achievements and accomplish even greater things for Kogi West.

The Town Hall Meeting itself became a festival of gratitude and solidarity. Political leaders, community stakeholders, youth representatives, women leaders and party faithful all took turns reaffirming their unwavering confidence in Senator Karimi’s leadership. Speaker after speaker praised his accessibility, commitment to the welfare of the people and the numerous developmental projects executed across the district.

Although several political appointees attended the event, only one addressed the gathering. He recalled working closely with Senator Karimi during his first term, He confirmed a rift between them along the line but declared his readiness to stand firmly with him once again as preparations begin for another electoral victory.

The atmosphere reached fever pitch when Senator Karimi finally rose to address the enthusiastic crowd. He was greeted with a thunderous standing ovation that lasted several minutes, a clear reflection of the affection and confidence the people have in his leadership.

In his remarks, the senator expressed profound appreciation for the massive turnout, especially considering the short notice and the many personal and professional engagements of those in attendance. He described the gathering as another clear demonstration of the enduring bond between him and the people of Kogi West.

He paid glowing tribute to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, explaining that the principal objective of the gathering was to reaffirm total support for the President’s re-election. When he asked the mammoth crowd whether they wanted President Tinubu returned to office, the response came in one thunderous voice as thousands chorused an emphatic “Yes!”

He thereafter urged the people to remain united and vote massively for all candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasizing that sustained development can only be achieved through continuity, unity and collective commitment.

The excitement reached another unforgettable moment when Senator Karimi turned his attention to Hon. James Abiodun Faleke. “Do you love Faleke?” he asked the crowd. The response was immediate and deafening: “Yes!”

Sensing the mood of the gathering, the senator spontaneously transformed the meeting into a lively Fuji session. With infectious energy, he led the massive crowd in the popular chant:

**”Eyin ti Faleke, owo yin da… E je ka ri owo yin o!”**
*(Those who are for Faleke, raise your hands… Let us see your hands!)*

In an instant, thousands of hands shot into the air, creating a breathtaking spectacle that virtually clogged the atmosphere. The venue erupted in cheers, laughter and rhythmic singing as Senator Karimi himself danced to the crescendo of the Fuji rhythm, delighting the crowd with his trademark simplicity and connection with the grassroots. It was a light-hearted but powerful moment that perfectly captured the unity, camaraderie and enthusiasm that defined the gathering.

As the cheers subsided, Senator Karimi warmly acknowledged Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, describing him as “our great leader in the state.” His tribute drew yet another of applause, underscoring the respect and goodwill both leaders enjoy among party faithful.

By the end of the day’s activities, one unmistakable message had echoed from the royal palaces of Ijumu and Kabba to the overflowing Town Hall Meeting: Senator Sunday Steve Karimi continues to enjoy extraordinary goodwill and overwhelming grassroots acceptance across Kogi West. The mammoth crowds, royal blessings, heartfelt endorsements and spontaneous moments of celebration combined to paint the picture of a leader whose performance has earned widespread appreciation and whose political future continues to inspire confidence among his people.
