A FOLLOW-UP TO THE EARLIER APPEAL: FIXING IKOWA OPA AND KABBA–OLLE ROADS AS A PATHWAY TO SAFETY AND DEVELOPMENT.

Your Excellency,
Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo,
The Executive Governor of Kogi State.

Your Excellency,
I respectfully write this follow-up letter as a concerned citizen, a grassroots mobilizer and media revivalist, and a proud son of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, to lend my voice in support of the earlier compassionate appeal made by Chief (Hon.) Aiyenale Fred Jimoh on behalf of our people.
This letter is not written from the standpoint of partisan alignment or political interest. Rather, it is borne out of genuine concern for the welfare, safety, and dignity of the people, and from a sincere belief in your reputation as a workaholic Governor who listens, acts, and delivers results for all Kogites.
Your Excellency, being closely connected to grassroots realities and public discourse, I can confidently attest that the cry over the Ikowa Opa Link Road and the Kabba–Olle Road is no longer muted. It has become a daily concern echoed across farms, markets, motor parks, security discussions, and households.
These roads are more than economic routes; they are critical security corridors. Their current deplorable condition has created hideouts for criminal elements, restricted security patrol access, slowed emergency response, and exposed commuters, farmers, women, and traders to serious risks. A motorable road is not just infrastructure—it is a strategic tool for surveillance, rapid response, and crime prevention.
Your Excellency, the continued neglect of these roads is unintentionally aiding insecurity, while their reconstruction will significantly reduce criminal activities, improve security patrols, restore public confidence, and enhance the safety of lives and property across Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.
The people genuinely acknowledge and appreciate your commitment to the Kogi State University, Kabba, and your timely interventions in erosion control projects. These achievements reflect your seriousness about development and have strengthened public trust in your administration.
However, Your Excellency, the reality on ground remains that unfinished promises create deep frustration, especially when they concern essential infrastructure such as roads that directly affect daily survival, economic productivity, and security.
The 2019 flag-off of the Ikowa Opa Link Road and Kabba–Olle Road raised genuine hope among the people. Unfortunately, each passing rainy season that further deteriorates these roads deepens hardship and heightens security concerns.
This follow-up appeal is therefore a humble reinforcement of that earlier call:
now is the right time to act.
Reconstructing these roads will not only revive economic activities but will also send a strong and reassuring message that your administration is proactive in tackling insecurity through strategic infrastructure development.
Your Excellency, once these roads are completed and commissioned, they will stand as silent but powerful evidence of responsive and inclusive governance. They will restore hope, reduce insecurity, and further reaffirm your image as a Governor who works tirelessly for the people.
I trust in your compassion, sense of justice, and commitment to inclusive development, and I am confident that this sincere cry from Kabba/Bunu will receive your urgent and favourable attention.
Thank you, Your Excellency, for listening to the voice of a concerned citizen and the heartbeat of the grassroots.

Yours faithfully and patriotically,
Obat I. Eseyin (MCFP)
