A LEGACY OF SERVICE, A HEART FOR HUMANITY — CELEBRATING SANI SIDI AT 60

Today, we celebrate not merely a birthday, but the remarkable journey of
Alh. Dr. Muhammad Sani Sidi, OFR, Matawallen Jere —a distinguished son of Kaduna, accomplished public administrator, humanitarian, nation-builder and a proud member of the FOSA family.

From his service in the Kaduna State Executive Council, where he served in portfolios including Environment & Natural Resources, Works & Transport, Culture & Tourism, and supervised other critical ministries, to his transformative years as Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Sani Sidi has consistently demonstrated that leadership is measured by the lives touched and institutions strengthened.

“True leadership is not the privilege of standing above others; it is the responsibility of standing for others.”- Dr. Aiyeku Olufemi Samuel Adeyinka

At NEMA, his tenure was associated with significant advances in disaster-management capacity, including technology deployment, emergency communication, volunteer empowerment, improved early-warning systems, wider operational coverage and coordinated humanitarian responses. He also played prominent roles in national humanitarian interventions and presidential relief assignments.

His humanitarian credentials were further recognised through honours including the OFR, a Humanitarian Icon recognition and an Award for Community Service for exemplary leadership in disaster management.

But beyond titles, offices and accolades lies the quality that makes his story truly compelling: a demonstrated commitment to people. His record of supporting humanitarian causes, encouraging young Nigerians and championing service reflects a philosophy that national development must ultimately improve human lives. His intervention that included a scholarship for a youth corps member whose disaster-risk advocacy impressed him is one example of that people-centred outlook.

“The finest legacy of a public servant is not the office he occupied, but the hope he created, the systems he improved and the people he lifted.”
-Engr Sani Ndanusa FNSE, FNICE,FNIM, Marafan Nupe

As a proud FOSA 84 alumnus, his journey also represents the enduring values of Unity, Service and Impact—values that continue to inspire generations of the FOSA family.

On this special occasion, I extend my heartfelt congratulations and deepest admiration to Alh. Dr. Sani Mohammed Sidi, OFR, Matawallen Jere. May the Almighty Allah grant you renewed strength, sound health, wisdom and many more years of meaningful service, fulfilment and distinction.

Happy Birthday, Sir. May your next chapter be even greater than the legacy you have already built.
