A MOMENT OF RETROSPECT FOR THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY IN THE FORTHCOMING LGA ELECTIONS.
With the lightening pace of the upcoming PDP’s Chairmanship primaries to elect the candidates to fly the party’s flag in the upcoming LGA elections, the party needs to be cautious not to throw their chances away by presenting candidates with lacunas that will cause the party gravely. As clearly spelt in the electoral act of 2022 where section 102(f) declares that “a person employed by the public service of the federation, or any state, or area council, other than a person holding elective office, and has not resigned, withdrawn or retired from such employment 30 days before date of elections” stands disqualified. There are so many aspirants with these lacuna in the race for the Chairmanship position, specifically in Jos East LGA where we have two public servants vying for the coverted seat running confusedly with unofficial letters of resignation backdated to suit their narratives of being eligible to contest for the primary election. Though they have been covertly cleared to contest, but it’s on good authority that they are still on government’s payroll for the positions they have been so appointed. Our amiable governor, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Muftwang has done his bid as a leader to have patronised these set of appointees for the services rendered to the party and it’s the onus for them to understand that there are other vibrant party faithfuls who are in tow to contribute their own quota to governance through the party’s patronage as well as the saying “live and let live” connotes. The indefatigable Chairman of our party, Hon. Chris Hassan who fought tooth and nail under the tutelage of our omnipresent Papa, His Excellency, Dara Jonah David Jang(JDJ) to bring our party out of the doldrum of opposition to the mainstream of Plateau politics which is the rallying point of the PDP needs to be more retrospect not to derail the party’s goodwill by handing over the flags of the party for the LGA election to candidates that will take the party to coma when the party is gradually healing from the malady of the last tribunal outing. The opposition is strategically waiting to pounce on the little and careless shortcomings of the PDP to resonate their voices that have been silenced back to the mainstream. As His Excellency’s first name connotes in the Bible, Caleb gave the Israelites the believe and stamina to conquer Jericho, so it’s working in the Plateau with our responsible governor breaking all barriers of bad governance he met when he assumed office. The governor has brought in young and energetic non recycled appointees to his fold which has given this government the needed impact and goodwill it is enjoying, we seek that His Excellency continues in such trajectory to support the aspirations of fresh and thoroughbred individuals to be elected as executive officers for grassroot governance to thrive so as to ice the nutritious cake His Excellency has baked to the satisfaction of the Plateau people. This is a clarion call to our great party to do the needful in leadership recruitment that will grow the party to greater heights in the foreseeable future.
Long live PDP!
Long live Plateau State!!
Long live Nigeria!!!
