Afizere Market Continue to Receive Accolades From Curator of Jos Museum.

The Famous Afizere Market at the Jos Museum is Booming and businesses as well as entertainment continue to thrills the atmosphere at the Jos Museum.

The Market is being observed every Friday and a place you need to be for your leisure and relaxation.

Local dishes of the Afizere People like Yam,gruel, different types of meets are sold there etc.

One of the frequent guests at the market,is the Curator of National Commission for Museums and Monuments Jos, Linus Kassai Kingi (Chiroma Aduwan.

Was at the Market to fully participate and entertain himself with the rich artifacts and cuisines of the Afizere.

According to him,the Market is the creation of traditional Nigerian architecture which is part of the objectives of the National Commission for Museums and Monuments where we provide for various communities to showcase their own architecture and apart from that,it is an avenue to also display their lifestyle and Afizere people is one of the Ethnic groups that have taken the advantage to create a scenery of their people and having a market like this one, enables the people to share in the rich culture of the Afizere which includes their dances just like you can hear right now from the background the beautiful display by the Asharwa dancers, you can also see various cuisines of the people is being showcased and the people buy,eat and drink from the cultural production of the Afizere People and that’s the significance of the market and that’s what basically motivated me to be here and for me as the Curator is worth visiting and for me coming from the Southern part of Kaduna and now serving in Plateau state is just like coming home especially for the Afizere and Baju people,we are meeting as siblings whom time and distance has dislocated us.

One of the Pioneers of the Market, who’s a tourist and a community leader, Comrade Azok Agwom was actively leading the customers and visitors to the Market among those frequent Customers is Ajik A Ajik, alias Regae Preacher who’s a broadcaster and promoter of Afizere Culture was also conspicuously spotted at the Venue.

Comrade Thompson Kaze Ishaya, NULGE Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area,Hon. Ajik Amos Ajik, the Senior Legislative aide to the Member representing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency,Ada Samuel Chiroma,ACCDA Chairman of Jos North,Comrade Atsen Yakubu Arin, Chairman of AYM Jos North, Philip Israel Isha, the immediate passed Chairman of AYM Jos North Branch and other esteemed customers.

The Asharwa dancers of Gyese (Tudun Wada) entertained the customers with their dancing skills.
