The Ebonyi State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii said that he would govern for a single term of four years of elected governor in 2027.
In his Independence anniversary message, Odii noted that his decision to contest for the governorship of the State was therefore driven by a clear conviction that the state needed a rescue mission founded on accountability, economic opportunity, infrastructure, human capital development and inclusive governance.
The PDP candidate said that the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the State as it was a choice between a glorious future and the continuation of the present trajectory.
“On this occasion of Nigeria’s Independence Anniversary and the anniversary of the creation of our dear Ebonyi State, I extend my warmest greetings and goodwill to all Ndi Ebonyi at home and in the diaspora”.
“I congratulate the people of Ebonyi State for their resilience, courage and enduring faith in the promise of our dear state. I equally acknowledge and appreciate the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, as leaders who have continued to play important roles in Nigeria’s political development”.
“My decision to contest for the governorship of Ebonyi State is therefore driven by a clear conviction: our state needs a rescue mission founded on accountability, economic opportunity, infrastructure, human capital development and inclusive governance”.
“”Elections belong to the people. The people must freely choose their leaders. I am also offering myself for one single term of four years, in the spirit of Nelson Mandela’s example of service and transition”.
“We must collectively reject a system in which the common patrimony of our people is concentrated in the hands of a few political elites, while the overwhelming majority are left struggling to survive”.
“The forthcoming gubernatorial election in Ebonyi State is, in my view, a defining moment in our collective history. It is about the choice between a glorious future and the continuation of the present trajectory”.
“Nearly four years into the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, I remain deeply concerned about the pace of development and the management of the enormous resources available to our state”.
“I believe government must be held accountable for what it does with the resources entrusted to it by the people.
I am equally concerned about a political culture where elective positions and opportunities appear increasingly concentrated around particular political families and interests. Zoning must not become an instrument for permanently monopolising political power or public resources”, Odii said.
He emphasizes that the people of Ebonyi deserve a system where every child—whether from a politically connected family or from the poorest home—has an equal opportunity to aspire to leadership.
“I think about the poor women who face difficulties accessing healthcare and roads in communities such as Ezzagu. I think about communities in Ebonyi Local Government Area and elsewhere that remain difficult to access. I think about Ishieke and other communities where physical barriers can separate elected representatives from the people they are expected to serve”.
“I think about Abakaliki, our state capital, and the unacceptable environmental conditions that continue to confront residents. A state capital should reflect the dignity, cleanliness and development aspirations of its people”.
“My vision is centred on job creation, industrial development, wealth creation, investment, mining, real estate, agriculture, infrastructure and the deliberate attraction of private capital into Ebonyi State’.
“I have spoken about my network of business associates and investors and my belief that Ebonyi can attract substantial private investment. I have stated that I have relationships with about 2,000 billionaires and that, if each were to invest ₦1 billion, that would represent a potential ₦2 trillion investment pipeline”.
Odii further urged Ebonyi people to reflect deeply on the abundant opportunities that may be lost if they fail to demand accountability, transparency and development from those entrusted with their commonwealth.
