APC Campaign Train Hits Ijumu, Woos Prospective Voters

By Sunday Ajayi – Kabba

The ward and community tour of the candidates of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) has commenced in Ijumu Local Government Area led by the Council Chairman, Alhaji Isah Taufiq who doubles as the ALGON Chairman in Kogi state and his counterpart in Kabba/Bunu local government, Hon. Moses Olorunleke.

Speaking at the various wards and communities visited, Alhaji Taufiq commended the people of the area for their continuous support and cooperation to the current administration and the progressive family in the state led by Governor Yahaya Bello, stressing that the new direction administration has performed credibly well hence the people should continue to have faith in the party.

He urged the people to vote en masse for all the candidates of the APC in the forthcoming elections scheduled to hold on the 25th February and March 11th respectively, pointing out that Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu as the party’s presidential candidate is a master stroke for the oppositions considering his giant strides when he held sway as the Governor of Lagos which has become a reference point in Nigeria’s political landscape.

He noted that it is time for Ijumu to handover to Yagba Federal Constituency as regards the Kogi West Senatorial seat in the National Assembly which has been occupied by their sons for close to 16yrs now. He stated that it would be unfair on their part to support another local government within the same Federal Constituency that have held sway for that long at the detriment of others.

Alhaji Taufiq said Hon. Sunday Karimi is a known personality that has been tested and can be trusted considering his performances when he represented his people at the National Assembly between 2011-2019.

He also used the occasion to present the candidates for Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal and Ijumu State Constituencies, Hon. Matthew Kolawole and Omotayo Ishaya aka File Fun Obirin to the people, describing them as distinguished individuals who have shown to be credible to earn their votes during the elections.

He said the Federal Constituency will for the first time enjoy qualitative representations considering the outstanding performance of Matthew Kolawole as a two-term Speaker of the State Assembly, hence he will be a ranking member when elected while Ijumu will have the opportunity to produce the first female state legislator that will make them proud.

Hon. Funsho Olumoko who is the Director General of APC Campaigns in Ijumu assured that the people of the area will vote en-mass for the party, noting that they have more stake when APC wins all it’s elections from top to bottom, stressing that they cannot afford to disappoint their beloved son, Hon James Abiodun Faleke who is the Secretary of the Presidential Campaign Council, hence the local government will deliver to the APC hundred percent.

The candidates who spoke at different points promised to provide unique representations that will make the people proud of them, saying education, Women and youth empowerment, health care delivery, agriculture, opening up of rural roads and human capital development would be their priorities when they are elected.

Other people in the campaign train include, Mrs Shade Joseph, MD, Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation, Hon. Seyi Bello, APC Candidate for Kabba/Bunu State Constituency, Hon. Adesayo Ismail, DG Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Campaign Council, Hon. Folusho Braimo, Deputy Director General, Kabba/Bunu, Hon. Cornelius Olowo, Deputy Director General, Ijumu, Party Structures in the two local governments, State and local government appointees and other stakeholders etc.

The campaign train moves today to Gbede axis of Ijumu Local Government Area.
