Arc Dabo Charges Pharmacy Technician Graduates to Lead War Against Drug Abuse.

The Proprietor of Aminu Dabo College of Health Sciences and Technology (AD-COHST), Kano, Arc. Aminu Dabo, has charged graduating Pharmacy Technician students of the institution to deploy their professional knowledge in the fight against drug misuse and abuse, particularly among young Nigerians.
Arc. Dabo gave the charge when he received a delegation of the college’s outgoing Pharmacy Technician (PT) graduating students who paid him a farewell visit ahead of their national examinations and transition into professional practice.

He urged the graduates to see their emergence into the healthcare sector not merely as an academic achievement, but as a responsibility to society, particularly at a time when concerns over inappropriate drug use, self-medication and substance abuse among youths continue to attract public attention.
According to him, Pharmacy Technicians occupy an important position within the healthcare delivery system because of their proximity to patients and their role in supporting the safe and effective use of medicines under the appropriate professional and regulatory framework.
He therefore challenged the graduates to become agents of positive change in their communities by educating people, especially young Nigerians, on the dangers of drug misuse, incorrect dosage, self-medication and the use of medicines without proper professional guidance.
“Your profession gives you an opportunity to influence society positively.
Wherever you find yourselves, you must educate people and make them understand that medicines are not ordinary commodities that can be taken anyhow.
“You must particularly pay attention to the youths and help them understand the dangers associated with drug abuse, substance misuse, wrong dosage and taking medicines without proper prescription or professional guidance,” he told the graduates.
Arc. Dabo further advised the outgoing students to uphold the ethics, discipline and professional standards of Pharmacy Technician practice, warning them against any conduct capable of damaging their personal reputation, the image of their profession or the good name of AD-COHST.
He reminded them that the reputation of a professional is built over time through discipline, integrity, competence and responsible service to humanity.
The Proprietor expressed confidence that the training received by the students at AD-COHST had equipped them with the knowledge and skills required to contribute meaningfully to healthcare delivery.
He prayed for their success in the forthcoming national examinations, urging them to remain focused and committed to continuous learning as they begin their professional journeys.
Arc. Dabo also encouraged the graduates to remember their alma mater and contribute to its growth by maintaining a strong relationship with the institution and becoming worthy ambassadors wherever they find themselves.
Also speaking during the farewell visit, former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Kano State, Hon. Tijjani Mailafiya Sanka, congratulated the graduating Pharmacy Technicians for reaching what he described as a significant milestone in their academic and professional development.
Sanka commended the management of AD-COHST for its efforts in training and moulding young people for careers in the health sector.
He said institutions such as AD-COHST have an important role to play in addressing the shortage of skilled health personnel by providing young Nigerians with relevant professional education and practical skills.
He urged the graduating students to justify the confidence reposed in them by their parents, guardians, lecturers and the college management by conducting themselves responsibly and putting their training at the service of humanity.
Earlier, in separate remarks, representatives of the graduating students showered accolades on Arc. Aminu Dabo, describing him as a rare personality whose contributions to education and humanitarian development had positively affected the lives of many students.
The graduates expressed appreciation for the opportunity provided by the institution and the support they received throughout their academic journey.
They particularly praised Arc. Dabo for his commitment to providing young people with access to professional education and for creating environment where students could acquire knowledge and prepare themselves for meaningful careers.
They prayed to Allah to continue to strengthen him and reward him abundantly for his contributions to education and human development.
The farewell visit ended on a note of optimism as the graduates prepared to sit for their professional examinations, with the college leadership expressing confidence that they would emerge successful and proceed to contribute to healthcare delivery across Kano State and beyond.
