Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued a kidnapped victim, neutralised two suspected kidnappers and recovered N10 million in ransom during a security operation in Falgore Forest, Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by Major Babatunde Zubairu, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army.
According to the statement, the victim, Alhaji Kabiru Aliyu, was abducted on October 11, 2026, at Fanyabo Village in Falgore Forest while returning from Yandoka Market in Kaduna State around midnight. The kidnappers subsequently contacted his family in Yan Taburmi Village and demanded ransom for his release.
Acting on credible intelligence, troops, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and local hunters, launched an ambush operation that led to Aliyu’s rescue and the neutralisation of two suspected members of the kidnapping syndicate. Other suspects reportedly escaped into the forest.
A follow-up search of the area led to the recovery of N10 million allegedly paid by the victim’s family as ransom. The money was subsequently returned to Aliyu and his family.
The Commander of 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Saka Jimoh, commended the troops for their alertness, professionalism and fighting spirit, reaffirming the brigade’s commitment to intensifying operations against criminal elements.
He urged residents to provide security agencies with credible and timely information to strengthen ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities and sustain peace across Kano State.
