Asiwaju Olatunji Olusoji Debunks Lobby for Kogi Deputy Governorship, Says Position Is Governor’s Prerogative

Asiwaju (Dr.) Prince Olatunji Olusoji, Group Chairman/CEO of Grosvenor Global Services Limited and Chairman of PROOF Foundation, has dismissed reports of a lobby for him to contest the Kogi State deputy governorship in 2027, insisting he never discussed the position with anyone.
The clarification follows reports that stakeholders from Kogi East and Kogi Central Senatorial Districts were pushing for him to replace incumbent Deputy Governor, Elder Joel Oyibo Salifu ahead of the 2027 election.

In a rejoinder issued Sunday, Asiwaju Olusoji dismissed claims of a May meeting at Ibro Hotel, Abuja, where leaders allegedly endorsed him as the “best to occupy the position of Deputy Governor in 2027”
“There’s no point in time I discussed with anyone about being Deputy Governor of Kogi state because as an experienced politician I know the position of a Deputy Governor is the prerogative of the Governor and not a position you contest or lobby for. However, I have a very cordial relationship with the present Deputy Governor.”
He stressed that he is “not a desperate politician and a contender,” adding that he operates by “divine direction and instruction.”
“My main focus is to assist Governor Ododo to finish his administration strong and leave Kogi State better than he met it because I know he has a very clear vision and focus to develop Kogi State,” he said.
The Ayere-born entrepreneur said his guiding philosophy remains: “The true measure of leadership is not how high one rises, but how many others one lifts along the way.”
He noted that his current priority is expanding PROOF Foundation’s work in education, health, security and economic empowerment across Kogi.
He urged the public to disregard “speculative political permutations” and focus on verifiable service delivery.
