Bandits Kidnap Travelers on Ayere-Kabba Road in Kogi State

Unknown bandits have kidnapped travelers heading to Abuja and Kabba along the Ayere-Kabba road in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

According to information made available by an eyes witness who don’t want his name in print, the incident occurred on Friday, October 17, 2025, around 4:30 pm, when bandits blocked the road and kidnapped victims.

Reports indicate that two buses, an 18-seater Toyota Hiace with registration number 14C 49DT Delta State and a Chisco Bus with registration number Lagos AAA 206 UK, were involved in the incident.

Over 20 passengers from the two buses are believed to have been kidnapped. However, five persons were immediately rescued, with three sustaining bullet wounds and receiving medical attention at St. John Hospital Kabba.

Security operatives, including soldiers from FOB Kabba, vigilantes, and hunters, are conducting a bush combing exercise to rescue more victims. Authorities are working to obtain the buses’ manifests to determine the number of passengers and identify those kidnapped.

As of yesterday evening, the bandits had not contacted the victims’ families to demand ransom.

Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
