BASSA IS IN SAFE HANDS WITH THEOPHILUS ADAMA
… One Good Turn Deserves Another!
My dear compatriots, parents, youths, women, and all the good and peace loving people of Bassa Local Government Area.
I want to sincerely thank you for your love, prayers, support and dogged commitment to the advancement of our local government area.
As you’re all aware, the story of our LGA since it’s creation in 1976, especially when we left Benue State in 1991, as one of the 4 LGAs in Kogi East that was part of Benue . Our story has been that of underdevelopment, neglect, deprivations, and gross political marginalization.
As a local government area, we could be referred to as the food basket of the state, we had a very strong economy with two thriving markets in Sheria and Ikende, where we had over half a million people from States like , Edo, Delta, Benue, Nasarawa, Anambra, Enugu and the FCT doing business in the LGA. We had farmers who built houses, bought cars, and trained their children to acquire higher education even outside the country with proceeds from their farms. The LGA could be adjudged one of the most peaceful and accommodating when we were in Benue, and for sometime in Kogi State.
However, all these began to degenerate as this once great LGA became a shadow of its former glory because of neglect, the roads became deplorable, the only bridge that led to the commercial nerve centre of the LGA, Sheria and Ikende collapsed for nearly 20 years with no respite in sight, despite appeals to various administration in the State. With the economic hardship occasioned by long time deprivation, the once peaceful LGA degenerated to a theatre of war and killings, and most basic amenities lacking. At a time the LGA became a specimen in the political quotation of the numerical superiority of Kogi East without accompanying democratic deliverables to the people inspite of the people’s faithfulness in keeping to voting agreement in the senatorial district.
Towards the end of the last administration headed by His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, some sort of respite came to the people. The long collapsed Sheria bridge which had crippled the economy of the area was awarded, and His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo on assumption of office ensured the bridge was completed, breaking a jins of almost 20 years. Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has rekindled hope in Bassa LGA again, he has boosted agriculture which is the main stay of the people, he recently gave the LGA a second half of the 25 trucks of fertlilizer for the whole State, he has ordered for the construction of Oguma, the LGA Headquarter township Road, all within the space of 1 year.
The almost 30 years of neglect of the LGA is coming to an end, peace is returning to the war-torn LGA, and the people are happier for it.
As we turn out to cast our votes on Saturday, 19th October 2024 for the LGAs Election, the people of Bassa LGA has only one mandate, to give 100% vote to Hon. Theophilus Adama the APC candidate, in show of appreciation to His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for remembering Bassa people, for his love and commitment to the development of the area.
One Good Turn they say, Deserves Another, and to him whom much is given, much is expected!
