PRESS RELEASE
BIG Condemns Killings, Kidnappings, and Banditry in Bunuland, Calls for Urgent Government Action
The Bunu Initiative Generation (BIG) strongly condemns the heightened spate of killings, kidnappings, and banditry activities ravaging Bunuland in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
These acts of violence are senseless, inhumane, and unacceptable, posing serious threats to lives and livelihoods, as well as to the overall peace and stability of the region. They continue to instill fear, disrupt economic activities, and endanger the peace and stability of our communities.
BIG expresses deep concern over the deteriorating security situation, which has exposed innocent citizens to grave danger and undermined social and economic activities across Bunuland. The continuous attacks have left families traumatized and communities living in constant fear.
The organization therefore calls on the government at all levels, as well as security agencies, to take more proactive, coordinated, and decisive measures to address this crisis.
BIG specifically urges the authorities to intensify efforts toward the safe and immediate release of all kidnapped persons, strengthen intelligence gathering, and ensure a sustained security presence to prevent further attacks.
BIG reiterates its commitment to advocating for peace, safety, and the protection of lives and property in Bunuland, and calls on all stakeholders to work collaboratively to restore lasting peace to the region.
