Bolorunduro Otu Chieftaincy: Chief Augustine Ojo Obayele is our sole candidate – Ijemu Royal Family
The Ijemu Royal Family in Bolorunduro Otu community in Kabba district of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State have reiterated its stand on Chief Augustine Ojo Obayele as the sole candidate for Oba Bolorunduro Otu stool, pointing out that no one can shortchange the family no matter how highly placed.
This was disclosed by the family head, Pa Jeremiah Ola Obafoke in a press statement he signed and made available to newsmen in Kabba, describing the purported election conducted to elect the monarch of the community as null and void.
He said it has never been in the practice of the community to use election to determine or select whoever will be their king, stressing that it is unheard of for Oba Solomon Owoniyi to allow such uncultured and untraditional way to appoint a new king for the peace loving community.
He aversed that the community have an established tradition and culture of rotating the Chieftaincy stool among three families, how come the Obaro of Kabba is using all means to truncate the peace of the community to impose individual whose character is alleged to be questionable and from the family that just concluded its 27yrs reign last year.
He said the family might have no other choice than to take the matter to court to challenge the illegality of Oba Owoniyi to circumvent enabling laws of appointing the monarch for the community, stressing that Chief Augustine Ojo Obayele is a bonafide member of the Ijemu Royal Family from Bolorunduro Otu, hence he is qualified to mount the throne of his forefathers in the community.
He urged well meaning individuals within and outside the community to prevail on the Obaro of Kabba not to allow himself to be used to throw the peace loving community into chaos.
