Books Launch: Dr. Usman Ogbo lauds artistic craft of young author, Abdulmumin Mahmud

…encourage him to continue honing his craft and writing more books

The Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman was one of the top academic icons that attended the launch of two books authored by Abdulmumin Mahmud on Sunday 24th September, 2023.

The launching of two important books titled ‘Regret from Jail’ and ‘Moonlight – Tales from my Mother’ was held at the Palace of Ohimegye of Kotonkarfe in Kogi Local Government of Kogi State.

The book, ‘Regret from Jail’ told the story of a young man who was involved in a crime and ended up in jail, was meant to serve as a cautionary tale for young people was witnessed by royal fathers and industrious sons and daughters of the community drawn from various walks of life.

Dr. Usman who commended the author for writing such a powerful and thought-provoking book, encouraged young people to make wise choices in their lives.

During the review of the book “Regret From Jail”, Dr. Usman praised the author’s compelling storytelling and the important message the book conveyed, adding that, the book with sixteen (16) chapters is a powerful example of how poor choices can lead to devastating consequences, and how one’s life can take a downward spiral if they are not careful.

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic also appreciated the author’s efforts in highlighting the importance of taking responsibility for one’s actions and making amends for past mistakes.

He concluded his review by urging youths to read the book and learn from its lessons.

In his words, “writing a book is like sowing a seed that will outlive the writer and leave a legacy behind.”

He stated that the book “Regret From Jail” is well loaded as it will continue to impact the lives of its readers long after the author is gone.

Dr. Usman expressed his admiration for the author’s talent and encouraged him to continue writing, identifying Mahmud’s gift for storytelling that was able to engage his readers on a deep emotional level.

He said that the author had the potential to become a successful writer, and encouraged him to continue honing his craft and writing more books just as he also urged the author to take advantage of the opportunities available to him and to use his talents to make a positive difference in the world.

Dignitaries who spoke about the book in turns stressed the importance of reading and education, and how books can change lives.
