The All Progressives Congress (APC) has suffered a significant blow ahead of the 2027 general elections, as Chief (Dr) Femi Olubiyo, a prominent aspirant for the Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In his resignation letter addressed to the APC chairman in Aiyewa Ward in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State and sighted by our reporter.
Olubiyo, an oil and gas business mogul and politician, had previously announced his intention to contest for the Federal House of Representatives seat under the APC platform.
His decision to join the PDP is seen as a major setback for the ruling APC, which has been facing challenges from opposition parties.
This defection comes amid a wave of defections from the APC to opposition parties, with several prominent politicians abandoning the ruling party in recent months.
The PDP is hoping to capitalize on the APC’s losses, with some analysts predicting a tough battle for the ruling party in the 2027 elections.
