Buhari Lokoja Assumes Office as Kogi APC Youth Leader, Pledges Unity and Innovation
The newly elected Kogi State Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Buhari Lokoja, has expressed profound gratitude to party leaders and members across the state following his emergence as the party’s youth helmsman.
In a statement issued shortly after his election, Buhari Lokoja described his emergence as a collective victory for the youths of the APC across the 21 local government areas of Kogi State, noting that it reflects the party’s enduring commitment to inclusiveness and generational participation.
He particularly appreciated the Governor of Kogi State and Leader of the APC in the state, Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for youth development within the party structure.
According to him, “The confidence reposed in the youth by His Excellency and the party leadership is deeply valued. I assure the Governor and the entire leadership of our party that we will justify this trust through loyalty, dedication, and results-driven engagement.”
The new Youth Leader also commended members of the State Working Committee, party elders, stakeholders, and leaders at ward and local government levels for their support, describing the process that led to his election as a demonstration of unity and internal democracy within the APC.
Buhari Lokoja emphasized that unity would be the cornerstone of his leadership, calling on all youth groups and party members to close ranks and work together in the overall interest of the party.
“Our strength lies in our unity. Political differences are natural, but division must never define us. We must build bridges, strengthen communication, and reinforce loyalty to the party at all levels,” he stated.
Outlining his agenda, he pledged to introduce innovative programmes aimed at strengthening youth engagement and participation. These include the creation of a digital mobilization platform to enhance communication across wards and local government areas, leadership and political education programmes, entrepreneurship and skills development partnerships, and the establishment of a Youth Advisory Forum to foster structured engagement with party leadership.
He further called on party leaders and stakeholders to continue providing mentorship and guidance to the youth wing, assuring them of unwavering loyalty and constructive collaboration.
Addressing youths across the state, Buhari Lokoja urged them to reject violence and misinformation, and instead embrace responsible political participation, innovation, and service.
“The youth wing under my leadership will be a platform for growth, inclusion, and purposeful engagement. Together, we will consolidate the gains of our great party and strengthen its grassroots presence across Kogi State,” he added.
He reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, accessibility, and collective progress, while praying for continued success for the APC in Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
