Bunu District Endorses Tinubu/Shetima, Karimi For Second Term In Kogi
● Says President, Senator Changed Governance, Representation Narratives
Across all political parties, the people of Bunu District of Kabbbunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, has unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for a second term in office. The party’s stakeholders also declared their support for the senator, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sunday Karimi for another term.
The endorsement took place on Saturday at a well-attended rally held at the Community Primary School, Odo-Ape, headquarters of Bunu District.

Stakeholders in the district, which comprises six wards out of the 15 wards in Kabba/Bunu LGA – Akutupa-Kiri, Aiyetoro-Kiri (Aiyetoro Gbede), Iluke, Olle/Oke-Offin, Okebukun and Odo-Ape wards, hinged their decision on what they described as effective leadership, quality representation and visible dividends of democracy.
Addressing the crowd of supporters, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Hon Durosinmi Meseko, charged the people of Bunuland to vote massively for President Tinubu and Senator Karimi in the 2027 general election.
Meseko said Bunu District and Kogi West in general have benefited immensely from the Renewed Hope administration of President Tinubu in areas of infrastructure, economic reforms, student loans and social interventions, assuring that more dividends are on the way if the President is re-elected.
The APC chieftain, who hails from Bunuland, noted that President Tinubu’s bold reforms, though challenging, have started yielding positive results with improved foreign reserves, stabilization of the economy, attraction of foreign investments and renewed confidence in Nigeria’s economy.
The APC deputy spokesman further urged the people of Bunu District to stand firmly with Senator Karimi, insisting that his representation has changed the narrative of legislative representation in Kogi West and deserves a second term to consolidate on his achievements.
He described the recent influx of former PDP governors into the APC as a clear testimony of the confidence Nigerians now have in President Tinubu’s vision, mission, and policies for the country.
Speaking through his representative, Hon. Folorunsho Braimoh, Meseko assured that Bunu District will surpass votes from other LGAs in Kogi West Senatorial District for the APC in 2027, stressing that the district remains a stronghold of progressive politics.
In his remarks, Senator Sunday Karimi thanked the people of Bunu District for their overwhelming endorsement of President Tinubu and himself.
He stated that Tinubu’s reelection is sacrosanct considering his impact on Nigerians and on Kogi State in particular.
Senator Karimi listed some of his accomplishments since assuming office in 2023 to include: a well equipped military Forward Operating Base scholarship and educational support for over 200 students across Kogi West, women empowerment through cooperative societies with grants, sinking of solar-powered boreholes across all six wards of Bunu District, reconstruction of the long-abandoned Pakuta Bridge linking Bunu communities, renovation of blocks of classrooms in several schools, provision of transformers to electrify rural communities, facilitation of employment opportunities for youths, and distribution of palliatives and farm inputs to farmers.
He also highlighted some of President Tinubu’s notable achievements including removal of fuel subsidy to free funds for development, introduction of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), clearance of foreign exchange backlog, massive road infrastructure projects including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and Sokoto-Badagry Highway, increased allocation to states and local governments, agricultural interventions and renewed fight against insecurity.
Earlier, the Chairman of Bunu District APC, Pastor Obayomi Lawrence, appreciated Senator Karimi for his “unprecedented” interventions in the district. He lauded the Senator for the student support programme where over 200 students have benefited, women empowerment, boreholes across all wards, the Pakuta bridge project, renovation of schools and classrooms, and provision of transformers, reiterating the resolve of Bunu people to deliver 100 percent votes for President Tinubu and Senator Karimi.
Other speakers including Dr. Ola Elijah Olorunshua, Comrade Bayo Oyenibi Owojola, and Hon. Esther Balogun, described President Tinubu and Senator Karimi as leaders who have done well for the nation and for Kogi West. They called on all Nigerians to massively support their re-election.
In a climax to the event, the member representing Kabba/Bunu State Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Seyi Bello, moved a motion for the formal endorsement of President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima and Senator Karimi for a second term in 2027, which was unanimously adopted by the entire Bunu District APC with a resounding voice vote.
Another highlight of the rally was the presentation of the award of excellence to Sen Karimi for his “Unequalled Representation in Kogi West’s History.”
