Celebrating Nigerian Workers:
A Tribute on Workers Day ,2024

By Wilson Macaulay

As the sun rises on the first day of May 2024, Nigerians joins the rest of the world in celebrating the dignity of hard work, dedication, and contributions of its workforce to the International Workers Day.

This annual occasion serves as a poignant reminder of the pivotal role
the Nigerian workers play in driving the nation’s progress and prosperity.

Across the length and breadth of Nigeria, from the bustling cities to the remote villages, millions of individuals wake up each day to embark on their respective journeys to workplaces, offices, factories, farms, and beyond.

They are essentially, as remarked by Karl Marx in his super structure illustration, the backbone of the nation, the engines that power the economy, and the architects of its future.

This year’s 2024 Workers Day celebration holds a particular significance as Nigeria continues to navigate through a myriad of challenges, both internal and external. From the negative impacts of the depreciating Naira value, the cataphora of Problems thrown up by the subsidy removal by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and many other economic uncertainties and social disparities, faced by the Nigerian workers is indeed enough to call them veterans.

Truth be told, the Nigerian Workers
have demonstrated resilience, fortitude, and unwavering commitment in the face of adversities equal to non since the beginning of project Nigeria.

At African Pride Media, we take immense pride in honoring the invaluable contributions of the Nigerian workers across all sectors. From healthcare professionals on the frontline battling to save our lives, to the very important teachers who are shaping the minds of our children ,the future generations. We cannot appreciate enough our farmers who are toiling under the scorching sun as they damn the consequence of herdsmen attack to give us food to eat. We most sincerely appreciate all the entrepreneurs like Dangote Group, BUA Group, Globalcom,
MTN, AIRTEL, The lbru Organisation, Okada Group of Companies, The Eliganza Group of companies, Dr Wayles Group of Companies, Wellmann Group of companies, Tantita Security Company, PINL, Zenith Bank, UBA, Access Bank , Reign Global Group, O and Company Group, and many others driving innovation and entrepreneurship, in the country to keep us going as one Nigeria.

We recognise in good measure that
each worker plays a vital role in shaping the nation’s destiny.
Despite the myriad challenges that confronts them, the Nigerian workers exemplifies the spirit of resilience, perseverance, and solidarity. They are the unsung heroes whose tireless efforts and sacrifices often go unnoticed but whose impact reverberates throughout society.

On this auspicious occasion, let us pause to acknowledge and appreciate the dedication, hard work, and sacrifices of Nigerian workers. Let us recognize their resilience in the face of adversity and their unwavering commitment to building a brighter future for generations to come.

As we celebrate International Workers Day , today, May 2024, let us recommit ourselves to supporting and empowering Nigerian workers, ensuring that they have access to fair wages, decent working conditions, and opportunities for growth and advancement.

In the words of Nelson Mandela, “It is only through labor and painful effort, by grim energy and resolute courage, that we move on to better things.” Let us stand in solidarity with the Nigerian workers as they continue to strive for a better tomorrow, for themselves, their families, and their beloved nation.
We salute the labour of our heroes past like Late Pa Michael lmoudu, Late Chief Frank Kokori etc. We also commend the laudable efforts of the living labour icons , particularly the likes of , His Excellency, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Comrade Ayuba Wabba,, and many other foot soldiers who made the Nigeria labour union thick and worthwhile. From the bottom of our hearts, we truly appreciate the window of opportunity provided by the Workers Day worldwide on May first, 2024 to appreciate the Nigerian Workers.

Happy Workers Day to all Nigerian workers!
