Celebrating One Year of Peace and Development under a Cosmopolitan Monarch, Oba Muyiwa Ibeun, Elulu of Mopa

The Mopa community in Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State is gearing up to celebrate a significant milestone – the one-year anniversary of a cosmopolitan monarch with a different, His Royal Majesty, Oba Muyiwa Ibeun’s reign as the 4th Elulu of Mopa. As a cosmopolitan monarch, Oba Ibeun has brought a unique blend of traditional leadership and modern vision to the community.
Since ascending the throne, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ibeun has prioritized peace and development in Mopa land. He has worked tirelessly to promote unity and tranquility within his domain, ensuring that the community continues to witness growth and progress. One notable achievement is the ongoing repair of the Mopa section of the Kabba-Egbe-Ilorin road, which is expected to be completed this year, aside the ongoing construction of Mopa township roads by the Kogi State Government under the leadership of Governor Usman Ododo.
Oba Ibeun has fostered a sense of unity and peace among the Mopa people, creating a conducive environment for development.
The monarch has also been instrumental in pushing for infrastructure development, including the repair and reconstruction of key roads in the community.
The monarch has initiated a process of cultural rejuvenation, promoting patriotism and peace in his domain especially the Mopa Adegbederin maiden edition held in December, 2024.
Oba Ibeun is engaging with various stakeholders, including the Forum of Okun Media Professionals, NGOs, elders, and youths to promote governance and development in the community.
However, Oba Ibeun’s efforts have received recognition and support from various quarters. The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, described the monarch’s emergence as “a masterstroke that will catalyze socio-economic development in Mopa land”. The state government has also shown support for Oba Ibeun’s initiatives, with Governor Usman Ododo relocating the Kogi State College of Education, Technical to Mopa.
The reconnection of the community and indeed local government to the national grid for the communities in the area to continue to enjoy power supply is not without his efforts.
As the Mopa community celebrates the one-year anniversary of Oba Ibeun’s reign, there is optimism about the future.
The monarch’s commitment to peace, development, and cultural rejuvenation is expected to continue driving progress in the community. With the support of the state government and other stakeholders, Oba Ibeun’s vision for Mopa land is likely to become a reality.
