Chairman of Arewa Youth for Peaceful Coexistence in FCT, Mark Okpanachi urges Nigerian youths to suspend October first Protest

Hon. Mark Okpanachi Oga, Chairman of Arewa Youth for Peaceful Coexistence in the Federal Capital Territory, has urged Nigerian youths to suspend their plans for the October 1 protest.

He emphasized that protests can lead to riots and instead advocated for constructive dialogue with the government to address concerns

Ogah acknowledged the Tinubu administration’s efforts to improve the nation, such as introducing Compressed Natural Gas buses, ministerial performance bonds, and a new National Minimum Wage. However, he warned that protests could disrupt economic activities, exacerbate insecurity, and deepen societal divisions.

Similar calls to suspend the protests have been made by other groups, including 30,000 ex-Niger Delta agitators and the Delta who encouraged citizens to pray for the country’s peace and unity.

Reasons to reconsider the protest:

Economic impact:

Protests can disrupt businesses, affect fragile markets, and harm livelihoods.

Security concerns

Protests can be hijacked by criminal elements, leading to violence and harm to innocent citizens.

Social unity: Protests can deepen divisions and undermine societal cohesion.

Alternative approaches:

Constructive dialogue: Engage with the government to address concerns and find solutions.

Productive efforts: Channel energy into building the nation and contributing to its growth.

Patience and resilience: Endure current hardships, focusing on long-term gains and collective progress.
