Lokoja, Dec. 20, 2025
Treasures Bakery, led by its MD/CEO, Dr Femi Akande, hosted its annual Christmas Carol, Season 14, Special Edition, with a heartwarming focus on empowering widows.

The event saw the distribution of essential food items, clothing, and cash to 500 widows in need.

In his remarks, Dr Akande emphasized the importance of giving back to the community especially the windows, citing biblical teachings to support the vulnerable.

“As Christians, we’re commanded to help the poor and less privileged, especially widows,” he said.

The distributed items included rice, yam, gari, noodles, spaghetti, provisions, groundnut oil, seasonings, clothes, and cash.

Mrs Kikelomo Akande highlighted the gesture as a testament to God’s faithfulness in their lives and business.

Pastor Roseline Alabi, a widow Coordinator, praised the Akande family for their fairness and equity in selecting beneficiaries.

She also praised Dr Akande and his wife providing scholarships to some of the widows’ children.

Dignitaries, including Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources Engr. Farouk Yahaya, commended Dr Akande’s humanitarian efforts, urging others to emulate his example.

Ambassador Oladele John-Nihi, the Special Adviser to Kogi Governor on Youth and Students’ Matters, hailed the gesture, and supported the initiative with N500,000.

In her short Exhortation, Pastor Mrs Alice Halidu, emphasized that giving reflects God’s love and urged continuous kindness.

Beneficiaries, Mrs Mary Olu , Mrs Favour Onuh and Mrs Jumai Abdullahi, expressed their gratitude, praying for God’s blessings on the Akande family.

The event culminated in Dr Akande and his wife receiving the Best Humanitarian Personalities of 2025 award, followed by a prayer session for Akande family and Treasures, Kogi State and Nigeria.
