The event saw the distribution of essential food items, clothing, and cash to 500 widows in need.

In his remarks, Dr Akande emphasized the importance of giving back to the community especially the windows, citing biblical teachings to support the vulnerable.

“As Christians, we’re commanded to help the poor and less privileged, especially widows,” he said.

The distributed items included rice, yam, gari, noodles, spaghetti, provisions, groundnut oil, seasonings, clothes, and cash.

Mrs Kikelomo Akande highlighted the gesture as a testament to God’s faithfulness in their lives and business.

Pastor Roseline Alabi, a widow Coordinator, praised the Akande family for their fairness and equity in selecting beneficiaries.

She also praised Dr Akande and his wife providing scholarships to some of the widows’ children.

Dignitaries, including Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources Engr. Farouk Yahaya, commended Dr Akande’s humanitarian efforts, urging others to emulate his example.
