PRESS STATEMENT

Clarification on Attempts to Create Political Division in Kebbi State.
By Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu Democracy Newsline Newspaper November 30th 2025.
I, Yahaya Garba Wake Bena, wish to address recent developments and strongly condemn the actions of Mr. Abdullahi Idris Bena, who currently serves as a Special Assistant on Media to His Excellency, Governor Nasiru Idris, Kauran Gwandu. It has become necessary to draw public attention to his persistent attempts to instigate political conflict within Kebbi State and among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Over the past weeks, credible information has indicated that Abdullahi Idris Bena has been deliberately working to ignite unnecessary tension between His Excellency, Governor Nasiru Idris, and Distinguished Senator Garba Musa Maidoki. His actions, fueled by personal grievances and misguided ambitions, threaten the unity and progress of our great state. I wish to state clearly that these tactics will not succeed.
I have repeatedly described Abdullahi Idris Bena as someone whose conduct lacks direction and sincerity—an individual who thrives on stirring disputes and creating divisions for personal gain. His attempts to sow discord between Senator Maidoki and Governor Nasiru Idris are not only baseless but also harmful to the collective interest of Kebbi State.
Contrary to the divisive narrative he pushes, there is no conflict between Senator Garba Musa Maidoki and Governor Nasiru Idris. The two leaders share mutual respect and a common commitment to ensuring the success of the APC and the development of Kebbi State.
Furthermore, it is important for the public to understand certain facts about Abdullahi Idris Bena’s past conduct and character. He is not originally from Zuru, as he claims; although born there, his family roots are in Bena. His history is marked by several incidents that question his integrity. During his time serving as Press Secretary to former Governor Senator Adamu Aliero, he engaged in misconduct that led to his dismissal. He was later reinstated only through the intervention of other political figures.
At another point, while serving as Managing Director of Luvana Company, he committed offenses that resulted in his detention in a Lagos prison. It was only through the kindness and humanitarian concern of Senator Garba Musa Maidoki—who personally traveled to Lagos to secure his release—that he regained his freedom. Afterward, he continuously pursued Senator Maidoki, seeking personal favors. When he failed to get what he wanted, he turned to spreading misinformation and attempting to fuel political crises.
These actions are unbecoming of someone who holds a public office and should uphold the values of integrity, unity, and service to the people.
I caution Abdullahi Idris Bena to desist from this destructive path. He must stop presenting himself as “Abdullahi Idris Zuru,” as his family are clearly from Bena. If he believes he can continue on this path of lies, division, and instigation, let him return to Bena and face the judgment of the people he claims to represent.
Kebbi State deserves peace, unity, and responsible leadership—not individuals who manipulate political environments for personal interests.
Signed:
Yahaya Garba Wake Bena
