Commander Jerry Duro Omodara: The Man Who Stays Awake While Others Sleep

In every society, there are men and women whose greatest achievements are rarely seen by the public because the nature of their responsibilities demands silence rather than applause. One such personality is Commander Jerry Duro Omodara (Rtd.) the Security Adviser to the Kogi State Government—a seasoned security professional whose commitment to safeguarding lives and property continues to inspire confidence.

Security is one profession where success is often measured by crises prevented rather than headlines made. From my personal observations and interactions, Commander Jerry Omodara exemplifies this principle. His dedication to duty is reflected in countless late-night strategy sessions, emergency security engagements, early morning operational movements, and constant coordination with security agencies within and beyond Kogi State. His unwavering vigilance demonstrates a commitment to ensuring that Kogi State remains safe for its citizens.

A retired Naval Commander with decades of security experience, Commander Omodara has consistently brought professionalism, discipline, strategic thinking, and operational excellence to public service. His calm disposition, sound judgment, and collaborative approach have earned him respect across the security architecture.

It is therefore not surprising that the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, CON entrusted him with such a critical responsibility. Today, under the leadership of **His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo**, Commander Omodara continues to contribute his expertise in support of the administration’s efforts to strengthen peace, stability, and security across the state.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Commander Jerry Omodara is, in my view, a remarkably humble and compassionate individual. His accessibility, respect for humanity, and unwavering faith in God remain defining qualities that distinguish him both as a public servant and as a leader.

To many across Bunu Kingdom Okunland and Kogi State at large, he represents one of the quiet patriots whose sacrifices often go unnoticed because they are made behind the scenes. Yet, it is these silent sacrifices that help create an environment where businesses thrive, families sleep peacefully, and communities continue to grow.

Commander Jerry Duro Omodara is truly a man who stays awake while others sleep.

As someone who has had the privilege of closely observing his dedication to service, I can confidently say that his commitment to duty, integrity, and the protection of lives deserves recognition. He is an icon of selfless service, a dependable security strategist, and a shining example of patriotic leadership.

As he continues to serve with courage and distinction, I pray that God grants him greater wisdom, strength, good health, and divine protection. May history remember his contributions, and may posterity reward his sacrifices in the service of Kogi State and Nigeria.

Commander Jerry Duro Omodara (Rtd.) is indeed one of the silent guardians of our time.
