Courtesy Visit to the Honourable Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning
Today, alongside my colleagues, the Honourable Commissioners for Budget and Economic Planning from Kebbi, Imo, and Zamfara States, I paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, CFA.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the Federal and State Governments in accelerating Nigeria’s journey towards a $1 trillion economy through coordinated planning, strategic investments, and effective implementation of key national development initiatives.
A major highlight of the engagement was discussions around the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme (RHWDP), a flagship initiative of the Federal Government designed to drive economic growth and poverty reduction across Nigeria’s 8,809 political wards. The programme seeks to unlock the economic potential of communities through ward-level economic mapping, support for entrepreneurship, agriculture, mining, fishing, small businesses, and other productive ventures, while creating jobs and improving livelihoods at the grassroots.
The initiative is expected to engage over 10 million economically active Nigerians and contribute significantly to the achievement of the Renewed Hope Agenda and the Federal Government’s vision of building a $1 trillion economy.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss strategies for rapid national development and the implementation of other key programmes under the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning. Furthermore, the Honourable Minister directed the Director of Planning to share the draft National Development Plan (2026–2030) with States for their review and inputs, reinforcing the importance of inclusiveness and sub-national participation in national planning.
The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of both Federal and State Governments to coordinated planning, prudent resource utilisation, and sustainable economic growth that delivers tangible benefits to all Nigerians.
