Customs Commences Final Stage of 2025 Recruitment, Urges Candidates to Uphold Discipline

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has commenced the final phase of its 2025 recruitment exercise, with shortlisted candidates undergoing documentation, physical fitness assessments and medical screening at the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The two-week screening exercise began on Monday, 7 September 2026, and is scheduled to end on 19 September 2026. It covers candidates shortlisted for the Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (ASCII), Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres.

To ensure a smooth process and avoid congestion at the screening centre, candidates are being attended to in batches, arranged alphabetically according to their states of origin.
Addressing the candidates, the Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Human Resource Development, Frank Onyeka, said the recruitment process goes beyond assessing physical fitness, stressing the importance of discipline, character and professional conduct.
“On behalf of the Comptroller-General of Customs, I congratulate you on reaching this stage,” Onyeka said.
“I urge you to remain orderly and strictly adhere to the guidelines. Beyond physical requirements, your attitude, discipline, and conduct are critical factors in deciding who ultimately joins the Service.”
Onyeka added that the NCS is working closely with the Customs Police and other relevant units of the Service to ensure the integrity and security of the recruitment process.
Speaking on the conduct of the exercise, the Commandant of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Dow Gaura, said improvements in administration and collaboration among relevant agencies had helped make the screening process more efficient.
“Everything happening here reflects the policy vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, which emphasised continuous operational improvement, collaboration, and innovation,” Gaura stated.
He added that the exercise had so far been conducted smoothly, saying, “The process has been seamless, hitch-free, and conducted without any casualties.”
Screening for candidates under the Assistant Superintendent of Customs (ASC) cadre is scheduled to conclude on Thursday, 10 September, while the screening of candidates under the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres will continue until 19 September 2026.
The Service has urged candidates to remain disciplined, follow all screening guidelines and conduct themselves professionally throughout the exercise.
