Democracy Newsline Newspaper Honors Hon Samuel Aro, with Special Recognition Awards as the Grassroots Politician of the Year
The former member of the National Assembly and PDP Deputy Governor candidate in the 2019 Governorship election in Kogi State, Hon. Samuel Bamidele Aro has been honoured with a prestigious award from the Democracy Newsline Newspaper as the Grassroots Politician of the Year, 2024
This award was bestowed on him at the 14th Anniversary public lecture and award presentation program held on 9th October 2024 at the Banquet Hall of the Merit House Maitama, Abuja which also coincided with the commemoration of the sixty-four (64) years Anniversary of Nigeria’s Political Independence.
Chief Olugbemi Femi, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, of Michabifem Ventures Limited, publisher of Democracy Newsline/blog, in his speech, noted that the occasion is an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the talents, achievements and contributions of individuals and organizations who have remarkably excelled in their respective fields of endeavours.
He used the opportunity to call on President Bola Tinubu, State Governors and other leaders at all levels to provide responsible and responsive governance to address the current economic challenges being faced by Nigerians.
While delivering his papers on the role of social media in the development of the agriculture sector by the National Coordinator Zero Hunger Nigeria, Dr Tunde Arosayin, stressed the critical roles social media can play in the development of the sector.
He said the need for Nigerians to go into mechanized farming to address the hunger challenges in Africa has become imperative using social media to access information that would be of great assistance in boosting the food supply chains on the continent, stressing that government of various countries in Africa need to deliberately encourage the people to return to the farm with modern system of practice.
Also delivering his paper titled, Nigeria and the personal perspective in politics, Comrade Bala Ibrahim Quoting W.H. Auden, a British-American poet, who says, what you do, good or bad, people will always have something negative to say” stressing that whatever leaders does in Nigeria, good or bad, is viewed with suspicion by the people.
He called on those in prominent, or influential positions to be exceptionally careful to avoid even the appearance of impropriety or wrongdoing, pointing out that this is because their actions carry great weight and consequences, hence they have the responsibility to maintain public trust and confidence.
Comrade Eniola Olayemi aka Calculus received the award on behalf of the former lawmaker, expressed his gladness in receiving the award and promised to continue to do his best for the political emancipation of the people at the grassroots.
He commended the organizers for a well-thought-out initiative to honour deserving individuals and organizations that will energize them to do more and also encourage others to take the paths of service to humanity.
