Deputy Senate President rallies massive support for Tinubu, Abba Yusuf and APC candidates as opposition heavyweights join ruling party.

Kano— The Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has called on the people of Kano State to unite behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Senator Barau made the call in Kano while attending the official inauguration of the national structure and state chapters’ executive committees of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata.

The event attracted thousands of supporters from the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State and beyond, in what organisers described as a major demonstration of grassroots mobilisation and support for the Tinubu administration and the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
The gathering also witnessed the formal reception of several prominent political figures previously associated with opposition parties into the APC, further underscoring the growing political realignment in Kano.
Among those received into the APC were former Senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga, former Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya, Hon. Yusuf Bello Danbatta, Senator Baraka Sani and Senator Mas’ud El-Jibrin Doguwa, alongside a large number of their supporters.
Addressing the gathering, Senator Barau, who spoke on behalf of the National Assembly, commended the Founder and Convener of the Tinubu Support Group, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, for establishing what he described as an important platform for political mobilisation and grassroots engagement.
He assured the TSG leadership of the maximum support of the Senate, stressing that sustained grassroots engagement would be critical to the success of the APC in the forthcoming elections.
The Deputy Senate President also commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for what he described as his political efforts in attracting prominent politicians and their supporters from opposition parties into the APC.
Senator Barau expressed satisfaction with the political developments in Kano, saying the movement of influential political actors into the APC had further strengthened the party’s structure and widened its political reach across the state.
He particularly praised Governor Yusuf and assured him that the Senate would continue to support his administration in its efforts to deliver development and good governance to the people of Kano State.
According to him, the growing political alignment between the Federal Government, the Kano State Government and the APC leadership provides an opportunity for greater cooperation in advancing the interests of the people.
He therefore urged Kano residents to continue supporting President Tinubu’s administration while also rallying behind Governor Yusuf and other APC candidates as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
Senator Barau appealed to party supporters to work collectively, maintain unity and avoid actions capable of undermining the party’s chances at the polls.
He said the massive turnout at the TSG inauguration was an indication that the APC had established a strong grassroots presence in Kano and was prepared for the electoral contest ahead.
The event was widely seen as another significant development in the ongoing political realignment in Kano State, particularly following the movement of prominent political figures and their supporters towards the APC.
With Kano being one of Nigeria’s largest voting blocs and a politically influential state in the North, the mobilisation of its grassroots structures is expected to remain a major factor in the political calculations leading to the 2027 elections.
Senator Barau called on APC supporters to remain peaceful and committed to democratic values, expressing confidence that the party would record victory at the polls.
He also prayed for peaceful, credible and successful elections in 2027, saying the political process should ultimately serve the interests of Nigerians.
“By the grace of God, the APC shall emerge victorious,” he said, while urging party members and supporters to remain united and committed to the collective political project.
The TSG inauguration subsequently ended with renewed calls for greater grassroots mobilisation, unity among APC stakeholders and sustained support for President Tinubu, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other party candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
