The Director General of the Kogi State Commodity Exchange, Export Promotion, and Market Development Agency (KOSCEPA), Hon. Victor Adewale Omofaiye and his team, has called for collaboration with media practitioners in Kogi State to enhance public awareness of the agency’s activities and initiatives.

Hon. Omofaiye made this appeal during a meeting with executives and members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, where he emphasized the critical role journalists play in shaping public opinion, disseminating information, and holding society accountable.

Speaking at the engagement, Hon. Omofaiye highlighted the mandate of KOSCEPA, which includes developing structured commodity markets, promoting export opportunities, and improving market access for farmers, traders, and entrepreneurs in the state. He noted that achieving these objectives depends heavily on ensuring the public is well-informed about the agency’s programs and how they stand to benefit.

He acknowledged the media as vital partners in driving awareness and education, especially among farmers, traders, and stakeholders. “Journalists are essential in creating awareness, driving conversations, and ensuring our people have the information they need to take advantage of the opportunities provided by government agencies like KOSCEPA,” he said.

Through this partnership with the NUJ, KOSCEPA intends to roll out sensitization programs that will focus on educating key stakeholders about the benefits of commodity exchange, export promotion, and improved market access. The collaboration aims to increase participation, enhance productivity, and contribute to the economic growth of Kogi State.

Hon. Omofaiye expressed confidence that the partnership will close existing information gaps and empower citizens with the tools to make informed decisions, which will positively impact their businesses and livelihoods.

He further stated, “Together, we can amplify these messages, reach every part of the state, and position Kogi as a leader in commodity exchange and market development.”

Comrade Adamu Sheidu Haruna, on behalf of the NUJ leadership welcomed the initiative and assured the agency of their readiness to support KOSCEPA’s programs through their various platforms.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen cooperation and ensure that the people of Kogi State are adequately informed about the opportunities available through KOSCEPA.
