Director General of the Kogi State Commodity Exchange, Export and Market Development Agency (KOSCEPA), Hon. Victor Adewale Omofaiye, alongside his team, pays courtesy visit to the Ministry of Agriculture.
During the visit, Hon. Omofaiye engaged in a productive discussion with the Commissioner of Agriculture, represented by Engr. Abdulsalam M.S., Permanent Secretary of the Ministry. The meeting focused on strategies to strengthen the agricultural sector, with particular emphasis on Kogi State’s notable rice and cashew production.
Hon. Omofaiye highlighted the critical role of collaboration between KOSCEPA and the Ministry of Agriculture. He discussed adopting best practices and sharing advanced agricultural technologies that have proven successful in improving rice production. He further emphasized the commitment of the current administration under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, who has prioritized agriculture as a key sector for growth and development.
The DG noted that the government has taken deliberate steps to support farmers by distributing thousands of fertilizers and farming equipment across the state. He stressed that achieving agricultural goals would require continued investment in infrastructure and comprehensive training programs. Such measures, he explained, would enhance farmers’ productivity, increase market access at both local and international levels, and boost incomes while ensuring sustainability.
In response, Engr. Abdulsalam assured Hon. Omofaiye of the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with KOSCEPA. He reiterated the Ministry’s focus on implementing various agricultural programs that align with the state’s development goals. He acknowledged that agriculture remains the backbone of both Kogi State and the nation, and that initiatives like this partnership could significantly strengthen food security and contribute to economic growth.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both the Agency and the Ministry agreed to work closely to improve the agricultural sector. They resolved to utilize opportunities provided by the government through KOSCEPA, ensuring that farmers in the state receive the necessary support to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the agricultural economy, in line with the visions of the Chief Servant of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo (FCA).
