Dr. Sarah Ogar-Oduwari Commends Steve Ogwuche Jr., Says Youth Leadership Focus Offers Hope for Nigeria
As Nigerians from all walks of life and across the country continue to pay glowing tributes to Steve Ogwuche Jr. following the unveiling and launch of his book, Leading With a Difference, the Founder and National President of the Idoma Daughters and Wives Association, Dr. Sarah Ogar-Oduwari, Mni, has added her voice to the growing commendations.
The book, which profiles the leadership qualities, achievements and contributions of 64 individuals in Nigeria and across the African continent, was unveiled and launched at the Dr. Mariam Babangida Centre for Women Development, Abuja, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
In a message made available to the media shortly after the event, Dr. Sarah Ogar-Oduwari described Ogwuche’s initiative as highly commendable and encouraging.
She noted that the decision by a young Nigerian to write and speak about leadership was a positive indication that there is hope for the future of the country.
According to her, the publication, which documents the leadership qualities and contributions of 64 leaders across Nigeria and Africa, brings into sharp focus the importance of celebrating and appreciating the nation’s leaders while they are still alive, rather than waiting until after their demise.
Dr. Ogar-Oduwari also spoke on the motivation behind the establishment of the Idoma Daughters and Wives Association, a socio-cultural and humanitarian organisation comprising Idoma daughters and women married to Idoma sons across the world.
She explained that the desire to contribute to the development and progress of the Idoma Nation was the major factor that inspired the formation of the association.
She disclosed that, since its establishment about six years ago, the organisation has embarked on several community development projects aimed at helping members of the Idoma community gain access to basic social amenities that are lacking in many parts of Idoma land.
Dr. Ogar-Oduwari particularly highlighted the association’s intervention in addressing the challenge of inadequate access to potable water in Idoma communities.
She revealed that, with the support of their brothers and husbands, members of the association have facilitated the digging of several wells across Idoma land, with more projects still in the pipeline.
She described the initiative as “Operation Sink 104 Wells in Idoma Land,” saying the project is aimed at providing sustainable access to water for communities across the Idoma-speaking areas.
Beyond water projects, Dr. Ogar-Oduwari said the association has also contributed to community development through the renovation of schools and other interventions designed to improve the welfare of the people.
She further disclosed that the Idoma Daughters and Wives Association has established mentorship and sensitisation programmes for younger people through its Idoma Daughters and Wives Association Teens Club, which operates in secondary schools across Idoma land.
According to her, the programme is designed to mentor and inspire the younger generation while inculcating positive values, cultural identity and the spirit of local patriotism in them.
She said the ultimate objective is to raise a generation of responsible young people who will contribute meaningfully to the development, unity and progress of the entire Idoma Nation.
Dr. Ogar-Oduwari’s commendation of Leading With a Difference and her account of the association’s community initiatives underscore the growing role of individuals and grassroots organisations in promoting leadership, community development and social responsibility in Nigeria.
