Dr. Usman Iskilu Saleh to Bag “Exemplary Public Health Leadership Award”

The Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, NAPHDA, Dr. Usman Iskilu Saleh, is set to receive the prestigious “EXEMPLARY PUBLIC HEALTH LEADERSHIP AWARD” from Democracy Newsline Newspaper.
The award recognises Dr. Saleh’s outstanding leadership in strengthening primary healthcare delivery, improving maternal and child health indices, and expanding access to quality healthcare services across the 13 Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.

Under his stewardship, NAPHDA has recorded significant strides in the renovation and equipping of Primary Health Centres, recruitment and training of health workers, immunization coverage, and the implementation of key health interventions in collaboration with federal agencies and development partners.
Announcing the honour, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of the Newspaper, Chief Olugbemi Femi, said Dr. Saleh was nominated for demonstrating innovation, accountability, and commitment to grassroots healthcare.
“Dr. Usman Iskilu Saleh has repositioned primary healthcare in Nasarawa State. His leadership has brought about visible improvements in service delivery, health infrastructure, and community health outcomes. This award celebrates his exemplary service to the people,” Chief Femi stated.
The award will be presented on Wednesday, 19th August, 2026 at 5:00pm during the _Democracy Newsline Newspaper_ 16th Public Lecture and Induction into the Good Governance Hall of Fame holding at the Banquet Hall, National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.
The event marks the 27th Anniversary of Uninterrupted Democracy in Nigeria and is themed: “Economic Reform and Sustainable Development in a Democracy: The Nigeria Experience.”
A keynote address will be delivered by Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Kogi State.
Chairperson of the occasion is Chief (Mrs) Moji Makanjuola, Veteran Broadcaster.
Special Guest of Honour is Hon. Mohammed Idris, Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
Patron is HRH Akogun Isiaq Ajibola, Former MD/CEO, Daily Trust Limited.
Grand Patron is Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, Former Member, Federal House of Representatives.
