Edda Chairperson Distributes Materials, Food Items, Others To Okporojo People

The Wife of the Chairman, Edda Local Government Council, Engr Mrs. Stephanie Ekumankama has distributed relief materials and other food items to the people of Okporojo Community who were displaced recently following an attack on the community by suspected Amasiri Warlords.
Mrs. Ekumamkama who, led the Inyom Edda United Women on a visit to the people of Okporojo in Oso Edda LGA in a show of solidarity and compassion expressed her heartfelt condolences to those who lost their loved ones during the attack and encouraged them to remain steadfast in their believe on God.
During the visit, relief materials worth millions of Naira were distributed to those affected by the crisis in the community. Items distributed includes bags of garri, detergents, shoes, clothes, cash gifts, and other essential supplies aimed at providing immediate support and relief to the victims.
She noted that the thoughtful gesture reflects deep commitment to humanitarian service and the wellbeing of the people of Edda adding that her leadership role and the collective effort of the Inyom Edda United Women have once again demonstrated the importance of unity, compassion, and community support in times of difficulty.
Mrs. Ekumamkama noted that the gesture will help to cushion the effect of the economic hardship their are currently going through following the attack and assured them that her office will continue to assist the less privileged and other vulnerable persons in the society.
She commended them for their corporation and supporting the position of the State Governor, Francis Nwifuru and have not resorted to self help adding that the State Government is working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure that they did not suffer untold hardship.
The Council Boss, Hon Chima Ekumamkama who commended the Inyom Edda United Women and the Wife for such compassionate gesture said that his administration has continued to assist the people of Okporojo since the unfortunate incident took place.
Hon Ekumamkama maintained that the gesture was a demonstration of concern by the Wife and the Inyom Edda United Women to those impacted by the attack adding that affected households are targeted to benefit from the gesture.
“What my Wife alongside the Inyom Edda United Women did was not just only about distributing items, but about reaffirming our commitment and support to humanity especially the people of Okporojo community.
Edda local Government Area will continue to walk with the State Government as they rebuild their lives with dignity and resilience. Beyond the materials they distributed, our duty as a local Government and leaders in Edda clan is to restore hope, protect dignity, and strengthen resilience in the face of crisis.
Since the unfortunate incident happened, we have been partnering with the State Government to ensure that the people did not go through difficult period. Together, these partnerships with the State Government and other groups and relevant authorities are helping to restore hope and rebuild lives in the aftermath of the attack.
The gesture, steps and several intervention taken by the local Government and the State Government reflects the humanitarian mandate of the People’s Charter Of Needs Mantra of the present administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru
Governor Nwifuru remains fully committed to alleviating the suffering of the most vulnerable members of our society. His mantra is to alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found and this is exactly what he has been doing in Okporojo and Edda as a local Government.
“We are most grateful for the support of the State Governor in helping us respond to this unfortunate incident. The distribution of relief items recently carried out by the State Government was a huge relief to the people.
“We will continue to work tirelessly to support those affected by the attack and ensure that they receive the necessary assistance to rebuild their lives,”.
He further advised communities to live together in peace as no reasonable development can be achieved in the atmosphere of crisis.
