Ekinrin-Adde Day 2025: Dr. Lanre Obafemi Inducted into Omo-Atata Hall of Fame

A Port Harcourt-based businessman, Dr. Lanre Obafemi, has been identified as a worthy son of Ekinrin-Adde Community to be inducted into the Omo-Atata Hall of Fame.

The induction, according to the Community Spokesman, is part of this year’s Annual Day celebration.

Omo-Atata Hall of Fame is a noble Award reserved for sons and daughters of Ekinrin-Adde who have made significant contributions to the Development of the community.

Dr. Lanre Obafemi was born in the late 70s in Omu Aran, Kwara State, to the family of late Mr. James Sunday and Mrs. Esther Ige Obafemi

He is a seasoned professional with extensive expertise in supply chain management, logistics, and maritime operations.

His academic journey began at the Seventh Day Adventist Primary School, Omu-Aran, Kwara State, where he received his foundational education.

He proceeded to Okoro Gbege High School, earning his West African Examinations Council (WAEC) certificate. His passion for business and logistics led him to obtain a Higher National Diploma (HND) from Kwara State Polytechnic and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Management from the prestigious University of Lagos.

He further advanced his studies with a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Marketing from Rivers State University of Technology and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Supply Chain and Logistics, with a specialization in E-Procurement and Delivery Performance of Shipping Firms in Nigeria.

Dr. Lanre Obafemi is a distinguished member of several professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), UK, the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), the Nigerian Institute of Shipping (NIS), and the Nigerian Environmental Society (NES).

With over a decade of experience in the maritime industry, Dr. Lanre Obafemi began his career in 2008 as a Vessels Compliance Officer with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), MARPOL Division, where he served until 2015. He was later promoted to Senior Vessel Compliance Officer, a role he held until 2021. Currently, he serves as the Regional Head of Business Development at NPA (MARPOL), a position he has held since 2021.

In addition to his public sector achievements, Dr. Lanre Obafemi contributes to the private sector as a board member of Multiplex Limited, Bolay Marine Limited, and Goround Logistics Ltd. He also offers his expertise as a consultant to Kziac General Services Limited.

Dr. Lanre Obafemi is a philanthropist, a community development enthusiast, and one of the leading figures of EACDA Port Harcourt Branch.

He is happily married with lovely children.
