End in sight to gender violence, child labour- Comfort Nwuochiola Egwaba

The Chairperson of House Committee on Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba has disclosed that gender based violence and child labour in mining industries of the state will be brought to an end .
According to her the House Committee on Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation shall request for a brief on such matters from the Ministry in the course of its oversight functions.
Hon Comfort Nwuchiola Egwaba made this known in a speech she presented during the inauguration of the Committee which took place at the Chambers of Kogi State House of Assembly .
The female lawmaker hinted that the committee became aware of such crimes through the president of Women Miners Association, Engr Janet Adeyemi, during their research validation and policy dialogue.
She extolled Governor Yahaya Bello for engaging more women in government compared to his predecessors, just as she encouraged women at all levels to compliment the governor’s effort with results oriented services .
Hon Nwuchiola also called on women to support the APC led administration of Governor Bello in achieving the desired goals on women and disability.
The Vice Chairman of the committee is Hon Asema Baba Haruna who represents Adavi state constituency.
Other members of the committee are Hon Aliyu Idrees Maikudi Hon Omotayo Ishaya, Hon Sunday Daku Hon Usman Adejoh Hon Orokiti Zakariya Hon Akus Lawal and Hon Abu Jibril while Yahaya Barakat is the Committee Clerk
