Rehoboth Community Advancement Initiative (RECAN) has appeal to aggrieved Youths in the Country to cancel the planned nationwide protests noting that it will amount to distruction of the Country’s economy.
The Executive Director of RECAN Dcn. Abaniwo Ciwon Nathaniel made the appeal in a statement on Monday.
He urged the protesters to prioritize dialogue and negotiation over confrontation in the name of protest, adding that, they should seek solutions that promote national unity and progress.
He called on all stakeholders to prioritize the safety and well-being of the masses particularly the vulnerable groups stressing that they should engage in constructive conversation to address grievances and prioritize the safety and well-being of all citizens.
Nathaniel admonished Government officials to engage in inclusive, transparent dialogue addressing pressing issues adding that they should choose the path of peace, understanding, and collective progress for a better Nigeria.
“We, the Rehoboth Community Advancement Initiative (RECAN), are compelled to express our deep concern regarding the planned protest scheduled to take place Nationwide on 1st of August, 2024.
” While we acknowledge the right to peaceful assembly, we strongly believe that the current socio-economic climate demands constructive engagement rather than embarking on protest that often ends in destructive confrontations.
“While we do understand the frustrations and grievances that have led to this planned protest, we strongly believe that Nationwide protest can never be the solution to our problems” he stated.
