Erosion Control Project: Kabba Development Union Commends Governor Ododo Usman, ACReSAL (World Bank) & Levant Construction Company as they tour the projects sites
The Kabba Development Union (KDU) has commended the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ododo Usman, the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), the world Bank financed project to address land degradation in the 19th Northern states of Nigeria and Levant Construction company which is handling the ongoing erosion channelization projects in Kabba metropolis, Kabba-Bunu local government.


The development umbrella body of the Kabba community executive led by Engr. Emmanuel Ajibero gave the commendation yesterday when they paid a courtesy visit to the company Project Manager in his office in Kabba, Engr. Rabah Haib to familiarize themselves with the management of the company and also to get an update on the project, while Engr. Makanjuola Oluwole who is the Project Engineer took them on the tour of the project sites.
Engr. Ajibero said it has become necessary that the KDU have an interface with the company in case there are areas of amendment in the course of carrying out their work and also to let them know that the community is in total support of the project that will give them a life time opportunity of saying farewell to environmental degradation in the metropolis.
He further noted that as the umbrella development body for the community, they are glad with such gigantic projects aimed at upgrading the infrastructural development and also upscale the community to an urban status courtesy of the Kogi State Government under the leadership of Governor Usman Ododo ; and the World Bank.
He acknowledged the quality of work being done but noted amendment in some areas, pointing out that like Oliver twist, appealed to the Governor and ACReSAL that there are still areas not yet captured which will go a long way to make the projects a great success with lasting positive impact at the end . Thus enabling the community to have total relief from issues of erosion at the designated areas.
Engr. Ajibero also used the opportunity to appreciate former Governor Yahaya Bello who initiated the project through the former Speaker, Matthew Kolawole in 2017 and also for giving Kabba community a University that is already transforming the community. He assured of the commitment and determination of the KDU to continue to give their maximum support and cooperation to the government at all levels that will engender peace and tranquility.
Earlier in his office, the Project Manager, Engr. Rabah Haib assured the KDU that the company will not compromise standards as they will do their work according to specifications approved by the World Bank.
Those on the visit with the President-General includes the Secretary – Mr. Mike Friday, the two Vice Presidents, Messrs Emmanuel Bobinihi and Adekunle Fagbemi Publicity Secretary, James Olorunmolu, Financial secretary, Shola Fashagba,, Auditor – Mr. Bayo Atomode, the Community Chairman for the project, Comrade AJB Ajibade and Chief Olugbemi Femi,
