Establishment of School of Nursing: Sen. Karimi donates ₦11m to Ijumu Anglican Diocese.

The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District and Senate Committee Chairman on Senate Services, Senator Sunday Karimi has donated the sum of Eleven million naira (₦11m) to Nigeria Anglican Communion, Ijumu Diocese during the burial ceremony of late Chief (Mrs) Grace Funke Omoniwa held in Iyara yesterday to support the church’s development.
The performing senator attended the burial program of the mother of the Managing Director/CEO, Nigeria Agriculture Insurance Corporation, Mrs Folashade Joseph alongside with other dignitaries from all walks of life to bid her farewell after she lived a fulfilled life and died at 81.
Addressing the church, Senator Karimi said, he loves supporting any efforts geared toward the development of the people, and pointed that he is interested in the school of nursing project, as that will go a long way to stimulate development in the medical sector of Kogi West.
Earlier, the Diocesan Bishop of the church, Professor Paul Ojo described the Chief (Mrs) Omoniwa as a great mother who raised all her children in the way of God, no wonder, they are great personalities in the society today, eulogizing the achievements of the family as good ambassadors of Ijumu Anglican Diocese.
He charged the congregants to live their life in the way of the Lord, stressing that death can come at anytime as human, being the way the Creator of the heaven and earth has designed it, “so be prepared, because no one knows when his or her time will come”
He eulogized the former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for establishing the Kogi State University, Kabba at a time no one was expecting it, stressing that God used him to create everlasting history in Okunland.
Professor Ojo said as part of the contributions of the church to the development of Ijumu, Okunland and humanity at large, the management of the Church noted that Iyara being the headquarters of Ijumu land and falls within Ijumu Arin already have the Anglican Secondary School, Iyara while the newly established Ijumu Anglican Comprehensive Secondary School in Aiyetoro-Gbede will cater for Gbede district while arrangement has been concluded to establish Ijumu Anglican School of Nursing and it will be sited in Ogidi land to balance their developmental projects among the three districts of Ijumuland.
He further noted that since the medical sector is one of the lucrative sectors across the globe, they decided to establish the school to train the upcoming generation in nursing related courses that will made them equipped to fit in anywhere in the world, stressing that Ijumu will also be earning in dollars since many of the children that will pass through the school can also travel abroad to practice.
Highlights of the event was the donation of twenty one million naira to the development (₦11m), ten million naira in support of the proposed School of Nursing, one million naira in support of the church.
