FALLOUT OF AYETORO-KIRI INVASION: DEATH OF 3 PERSONS; KOGI STATE GOVERNMENT MUST TAKE DECISIVE ACTIONS – RT. HON. TEEJAY YUSUF
Following the unfortunate death of 3 of the over 30 people, including children and women, that were forcefully abducted in the Ayetoro Kiri community of Kabba-Bunu council area by outlawed felons in December 2025, it has become imperative to call on the Kogi state government to demonstrate reasonable responsibilities towards addressing the frequency of insecurity challenges in the community, and the entire Okun land.
While the propensity of the illegal and immoral operations of this group of renegades that have turned Ayetoro Kiri, and many other communities in Okun land into the den of despair, and epicentre of criminality, it is saddening that government is yet to take appropriate measures that will give confidence to the people.
On a regular basis, bandits operate across our communities in the most despicable, destructive, perfidious, and rudderless manner such that our people have been chased out of their ancestral lands, forced to pay homage to illegal occupants, and in some cases, pay monies to the intruders.
Given the recurring intrusion, deliberate incursions, and arbitrary abductions of our people by blood-seeking vagrants, the government should replace issuing “political statements” with concrete, deliberate, and timely security measures that will bring peace and order to our communities. Anything short of these constitutional responsibilities, will clearly show that the state government has failed.
In addition to all the above, the Kogi State Government is advised to, without any delay seek ingenious ways towards protecting the lives, land, and livelihoods in Okun land by rooting out the existence, and operations of these criminals.
