FARMER GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO ADVOCATES INVESTMENT IN ASSETS AND CAPITAL PROCUREMENT FOR GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT

Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has advocated the need for investments in assets and capital procurement to enable the private sector make concessions and produce goods for the people.

Farmer Umaru Bago made the call at the opening ceremony of the Taraba International Investment Summit, TARAVEST 2025 held in Jalingo, the state capital.

The farmer Governor who represented the Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum and Governor of Kwara State Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, explained that there is the need for Government to provide enabling environment for Businesses to thrive for prosperity.

He equally emphasized the need for State Governments to invest in agriculture saying, with the advantage the Nation has, in doing all year farming, poverty can be alleviated, adding that there should be partnerships with Contractors handling various infrastructural projects in States to make use of their heavy duty machines to prepare lands for farming.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by his Vice, Senator Kasim Shettima used the medium to remind Nigerians on the need to increase the scale of their productivity to reflect the magnitude of the population, and demanded that agric mechanisation should be embraced to meet global demands and standards.

Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar at the event, reiterated the support of traditional and religious leaders towards the growth and development of the Nation and charged Governments at all levels to prioritise security as no investor will invest in any Society that is not secured.

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote explained that private sector investors play significant roles in economic diversification and unlocking of potentials to create wealth and prosperity, hence, the need to involve the private sector in the Nation’s growth and development.

The Summit attracted eminent personalities including the Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, Business Tycoon Tony Elumelu, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Babatunde Ogunwusi.

The theme of the Taraba International Investment Summit; TARAVEST 2025 is “Unlocking Taraba’s investment potentials, advancing agriculture, energy, mines and industrialization for sustainable growth”.
